Granlund

TheHudlinator 07-03-2012 11:17 PM

Byron for sure I think he is above Horak and maybe even Nemo

FLAMES666 07-03-2012 11:24 PM

Sticking with Ferland again, has nothing but improved every season. I think he basically a lock to be a good physical 3rd/4th liner in the NHL, if he can continue to score at the NHL level then watch out. Could turn out to be a Downie type player.

InfinityIggy 07-03-2012 11:33 PM

Went Brossoit.

HM to Ferland & Granlund.

HighLifeMan 07-03-2012 11:35 PM

I flip flopped on my original list.

I went with Ferland here, with Brossoit a close 2nd.

Love Brossoit, but I believe Gilles will soon (couple years) pass him on the depth chart.

I'm so impressed with the 2012 draft for the Flames... Seiloff and Gillies will be wearing Flames jerseys for a long time....

With that said,

1. I vote for Seiloff. The kid is so explosive. Great compete

2. No Gillies on the list?

Xelstyle 07-03-2012 11:53 PM

Particularly tight for this one. Went Granlund because of higher ceiling.

Flamefan1 07-04-2012 03:59 AM

Granlund

JohnnyGoodDro 07-04-2012 06:44 AM

went with sieloff
dont know what you guys saw from granlund to have him so high in the rankings, but i feel like sieloff is gonna be a good d-man for this team in a few years.

YMCMBYOLO 07-04-2012 07:35 AM

Went with Brossoit.

I think Byron's time with Calgary is quickly coming to a close and now probably going to end up a high end AHL player. The Flames have way too many small players now and Byron probably doesn't have the skill set to beat out our currnet small guys. Add in what's in the pipeline, with higher upside, and I see him being moved or unsigned when his contract is up.

Picked Ferland. Flames need his combination of size, grit and skill.

DBU 07-04-2012 08:50 AM

Brossoit

Nordberg 07-04-2012 08:56 AM

Went with Laurent as I've done the last 3 polls. I feel he is going to be something special, even though our G organizational depth is far better than any other position. Pretty excited to see what Ferland can bring though.

I disagree he has more skill and is a better defensive player than Nemo the only thing he has over Byron is size. Byron loves to hit and his speed is something this team is still lacking.

I would say Ward seems to disagree with you considering all the praise he heaps on Neimsz. I'm also curious who Byron beats out for a position on the Flames? Is he going to beat our Cammalleri or Hudler or Cervenka or Bartschi? Those are our small players. When you add Tanguay and Backlund into the mix, guys who play small, there are too many small, soft players in the lineup. Add in guys like Gaudreau and Granlund, who both have upside in a different stratosphere to Byron, I don't see where he fits. Who does he beat out, knowing that you can't have a team of little guys and get anywhere in the NHL?

I also think we'll find out what the team thinks pretty quickly. He's an RFA and needs to be signed. If he's in the team's plans they will sign him to a longer term deal and likely a one way contract. If he gets a multi-year two-way deal he's likely nothing more than call up fodder. One year two-way contract means he's done.

Johnny Hoxville 07-04-2012 10:41 AM

Went with Ferland, but really close between him and Granlund.

Ashasx 07-04-2012 12:19 PM

So far on this list, I think Irving and Nemisz are far too high.

I agree with Nemisz, but Irving? Really?

F l a m e s 07-04-2012 01:19 PM

Didn't expect people to be so high on Granlund? Hard for me to vote because I never watch him... Anyone here able to give comparables/playing style?

Edit: NVM, read some good articles on him... .72 ppg in a mens league... Not bad!

ALI 07-04-2012 01:36 PM

if i could vote it would have to be Granlund so 10 votes for him now.

You're right about him coming along well. I like the Downie comparasion, maybe a mini-Lucic is a good one?

Flames1217 07-04-2012 03:01 PM

Went with Granlund, Should have gotten rookie of the year this year. Could be a second line Offensive threat if he does not bust.

Just announced he signed a one-year two-way deal. Sounds like he's done with the Flames unless he blows people away this year.

SickHandsNoShot 07-04-2012 10:53 PM

Ferland has more tools and more proven then some of the other guys in contention for this spot.

Size, speed, grit, and skill can become a fierce combo. Who better to develope the kid then Troy Ward too...
