Who Is Your Sharks 3C for 2013?

There really has not been a lot of talk from the Sharks media or writers in regards to who the Sharks should be targeting for a third line center. I think its going to come thru via trade, but there are options to go within the system. I think this is going to be one of the most important decisions for the Sharks this year.

Who would you like to see acquired or moved to play the 3C? Options are moving Pavelski down, retaining Dominic Moore, promoting Sheppard, or Desjardins, free agency and or trades.

What exactly is Handzus is going to do on t his team?

As little as possible hopefully...

I think training camp and the first few weeks of the season will determine if it's Desjardins or Handzus, then I expect them to give Sheppard at shot at centering the third line as soon as he's ready. The two things to consider are Sheppard's readiness and the coaching staff's opinion on Handzus. Are they going to give Handzus another shot after the WC or just bench him and keep Desjardins on the 4th line? Will Sheppard be ready to go on opening night? I've no idea.

I'm excited to potentially see Sheppard this season though, in the same way that taking a fistful of unmarked pills is exciting. No idea what you're in for.

He'll probably get first shot at the role he signed a contract for: 3rd line center. Otherwise, I think he gets traded. If he is not getting ice time, he would be smart to waive his no movement clause. He's in a contract year and some team with less center depth could use him.

WantonAbandon 07-04-2012 09:38 AM

So far I am going to guess Jason Arnott. However the Sharks could and probably would be better off trading for someone

SharksAddict 07-04-2012 09:53 AM

Joe Pavelski. Add a top 6 winger.

do0glas 07-04-2012 10:19 AM

I doubt we are in for any centers. The weak spots up and down the team is on the wings.

Both zus and desi are good centers. But I guess we will see.

Pinkfloyd 07-04-2012 10:41 AM

I'm down for anyone but Handzus being the #3C.

KirbyDots 07-04-2012 10:48 AM

Wonder if they retain Moore? Would be good insurance for the third. In my opinion it should be Pav's line.

Barrie22 07-04-2012 10:57 AM

best for the team (pavelski)
best for pavelski (any one else)

sharski 07-04-2012 10:58 AM

assuming he doesn't get dealt for Nash, I assume Pavs is penciled in the top 6

I think TMac is hoping to be presently surprised to see Zeus come prepared for a bounceback year and takes what is supposed to be his, but it's a longshot... I think it's gonna be Desi's

Shepphard, I have no idea what he's capable of, so I don't expect much from him other than being a solid 4th liner for now

McLovin25 07-04-2012 11:17 AM

pavelski if another top 6 player is aquired

sheppard if not.

Well now that the Wild Blew up the bank, this is good news for the Sharks. More viable options for what they really need should be available now... 7.5 cap hist for 13 years... wow... They currently have three of those.

The Sharks can take Brodziak off their hands... Well there is a fantastic option for a third line pivot. The best part is he doesn't even have to play center.... LOL

that bank still has lots of extra space available to sign there 1 needed player.

you should go check out the wilds prospect pool that is already signed, they don't even need that near 3 million to bring up one of there million prospects.

The best for this team is to re-sign Dominic Moore, imo. I thought he was a serviceable player and if he gets a full season under his belt and get familiar with his teammates, he should be a fairly good 3C.

Sheppard is also not a bad option, but he's better off starting on the 4th line at the beginning since he hasn't played for a year.

Inub0i 07-04-2012 12:49 PM

Moore or Pavelski

dwood16 07-04-2012 12:56 PM

Andrew Desjardins.

He was very good when his line was getting 3rd line time.

Le Rosbeef 07-04-2012 01:42 PM

Bernie Nicholls.

JS19 07-04-2012 03:00 PM

Or get a legit top-6 winger through FA and slot Joe Pavelski as the third center.

Wouldn't it be easier to just get a legit third line center?

Not too many options out there...Hecht, Langkow, Arnott, and all are likely to be slow and aging.

At least Wing has loads of good options (inb4flame), Semin (IMO I think he's a good fit with Jumbo Joe), Kostitsyn, etc.

Sure there are. Lets say the Sharks sign Semin and then trade Clowe for a third line pivot and a pick. Problem solved. Makes more sense too

MarleauApologist 07-04-2012 03:14 PM

:help:

It will obviously be Thornton...how can you be this stupid?

I know that McLellan will put Nash on the first and second lines playing centre, Thornton will do fine on the third line. Relax guys.
