Minny's cap situation..

Assuming the contracts are between 6.5-8 million each, this either puts them RIGHT at the cap or over it.

Will players like Clutterbuck, Brodziak, etc come available?

Unagi 07-04-2012 11:31 AM

If I were MIN I'd try to get rid of Heatley. Makes them more likeable as well if they can dump him.

I'd say Seto is much more movable at this point. Heatley is a malcontent with a NMC.

Heatley to the Jets. (e4)

Jimmy McNulty 07-04-2012 11:36 AM

Brodziak, no, but Clutterbuck and Cullen are possible.

96 07-04-2012 11:36 AM

I doubt they move Heatley. I think they will peddle Bouchard to clear some cap space. Granlund should make the squad this year and he makes Bouchard expendable.

Muffin 07-04-2012 11:36 AM

I'm not sold on committing 15 millions in cap hit (Almost 50 million in real cash if rumours were true) to two players. I think the Wilds are going to regret these signings.

squidz* 07-04-2012 11:36 AM

Wild should have about $1.5MM in cap space (CapGeek is listing two prospects who will be in Houston on the current totals).

Heatley will be difficult to move, but it is still possible. Minnesota will have to shed some salary for sure and a guy like Backstron with one year left at $6 million could be another piece that is moved to save salary. The Wild signed Harding recently and may just give him the reigns to run with the team.

Jack de la Hoya 07-04-2012 11:37 AM

Matt Read for Setoguchi?

Minnesota saves about 2.1 million in cap space--and probably only drops off slightly in production.

jagz 07-04-2012 11:38 AM

They should dump Pierre-Marc Bouchard for anything, or am I out of the loop and he is a LTIR player at this point? How did he ever earned a 4m cap hit contract at anypoint anyway..

The Hendog 07-04-2012 11:38 AM

Is Heatley's NMC/NTC still applicable??

WJG 07-04-2012 11:38 AM

Is Heatley's cap hit still 7.5 million? Probably not a good idea to have three players making 7.5 million each on the same team.

He's the odd one out and will probably get moved eventually.

Izzy 07-04-2012 11:38 AM

I think Heatley would be up for a trade literally any day to any team ever.

HOW do you use 44 million on forwards lol

Why move a former 50 goal scorer when he's finally got a supporting cast?

Put him on the 2nd line behind Parise and watch him eat up 3rd pairing d-men.

Booba 07-04-2012 11:39 AM

Capgeek has them at 69,6M with 24 players on the roster.

Send Veilleux and/or Zucker to Houston and they have at least 1M of cap space with no major RFAs to sign

Especially when Parise gets only 55 points next season and they are out of the playoffs by 12 points.

Kloparren 07-04-2012 11:40 AM

KEep Heatley for now, his value is low.

Move Clutterbuck and replace him with Bulmer. Clutterbuck for a cheap dman + picks would be ideal.

+ PMB moving.

They'll be in good shape, cap might continue to stay the same or go up.

IranCondraAffair 07-04-2012 11:40 AM

I doubt there is much of a market for Heatley at this point. I'm not saying teams won't be interested, just that the Wild won't get a great return for him.

I'm not trying to be a jaded Sens fan, but bad reputation aside, he's had declining production, some significant injuries, and still a lot of years on his contract.

Seto would be the better option. I could see a lot of interest for him.

rynryn 07-04-2012 11:41 AM

Heatley absolutely shouldn't be moved. that guy was basically all alone last year and still managed to score. going love to watch him when the rest of the team is healthy.

Please stop trolling the thread.

No one ever said that. No one credible ever suggested Matt Read could be the leading piece for Ryan--but rather a supplemental asset.

Mostly, it is completely irrelevant to this topic.

Parise 98M/13yrs according to capgeek
Suter 98M/13yrs according to capgeek

Heatley was already traded. Not sure if he has an NMC anymore.

Don't call us Minny.
