Per their own Twitter account.

I'm curious on the dollar amount.

IBLeaf* 07-05-2012 04:33 PM

The dominoes are falling.

Duskog 07-05-2012 04:34 PM

I'm guessing 5m/2.5 cap hit. He's a decent young goalie, hopefully this year the Oilers defense will make life a little easier for him.

Armond White 07-05-2012 04:37 PM

He's a tough goalie to judge, as he played behind an awful defense, and it seemed that management gave Khabibulin every opportunity to remain the starter until the second half of last season.

SaskOil* 07-05-2012 04:37 PM

Good deal :handclap:

PumpkinBomb 07-05-2012 04:40 PM

I like Dubes. He can make some incredible saves. Just sometimes lets in some weak ones.

Hard to say why.

Still, he went from having outright bad games to just having some bad goals, so the improvement is there.

GO99 07-05-2012 04:40 PM

Tough one to judge. Dubnyk should get a lot more starts this year from the sounds of it.

Ementy 07-05-2012 04:41 PM

Did he really say they are comparable?

Bob Stauffer ‏@Bob_Stauffer
Tuuka Rask and Cory Schneider deals are comparables for Dubnyk contract numbers

Izzy 07-05-2012 04:42 PM

Hopefully he can prove to be a good goalie when he actually plays on a good team.

Krut 07-05-2012 04:43 PM

He was awful for the first half of last season, allowing a minimum of one terrible goal per game. He did recover in the second half though, stealing the Oilers a couple of games. He's so up and down it's tough to judge him, but he has the skills, he just has to find consistency.

Yeah I'd say not likely... no way Dubnyk's worth 3m yet.

nzoilerfan 07-05-2012 04:44 PM

So somewher around 3.5-4m per? Isn't that pretty steep for a largely unproven tender?

He is no Rask or Schneider, yes he is good and promising. But I was expecting in the 2m range

You've decided that before you even know what the deal is? :)

Maybe from Dubnyk's agent's negotiating standpoint, but I doubt he will actually make anything close to those two. He better not anyways.

I'm glad they resigned him. I know the contract isn't going to be anything outrageous. (better not be anyway)

Really, does it even matter? 2.5, 3.5... When it comes down to it, what's the difference other than a million bucks?

OilerFan4Life 07-05-2012 04:59 PM

If he got 3 million it's going to be an absolute joke.

sweranger 07-05-2012 05:01 PM

He can't get over 3.5M, that would just be wrong

If he gets between 2 and 2.5 its a steal. Pretty small window between a steal and a joke.

I used to just wanna get to a million plus, now I'm like "s**t", what the ******'s a million bucks.

Redline 07-05-2012 05:06 PM

Guessing 4.4 over 2 years.

caley 07-05-2012 05:07 PM

Oilers re-sign Petry to a 2 year deal, as well.
