Wonder what numbers are.

2.5 per?

Edit: Maybe too high. But wouldn't be shocked at 2.

HCH 07-06-2012 06:02 PM

Perfect! Now we just need to know the cap hit

Dripper 07-06-2012 06:03 PM

I'm going to guess 1.4 and 1.8 for an AAV of 1.6

Ewen 07-06-2012 06:03 PM

Sweet!

Doubt that low. But if so, I'll take it.

YMCMBeaulieu 07-06-2012 06:04 PM

I'm guessing $1.8 mill a year

Myron Gaines* 07-06-2012 06:04 PM

my guess is 2.5 a year

Dagistitsyn 07-06-2012 06:04 PM

What a terrible cap hit.. overpaid :sarcasm:

I could see it being anywhere from 1.75 to 3.. no idea.

JHabs61 07-06-2012 06:05 PM

Favourite player resigned!

LeHab 07-06-2012 06:07 PM

2 1st year and 2.5 2nd year I suspect. Hoping for 1.5 1st year and 2 2nd.

Frankc 07-06-2012 06:07 PM

I would expect also around $1.75M/year caphit.. something like 1.6 this season and 1.9 season after.

$2.5M would be way too high.

x74Pacioretty74x 07-06-2012 06:08 PM

Solid!

Pacioretty scored 24 points in 37 games before signing a 2 year deal worth 1.625M per year.

I expect something lower than that for Eller had 28 points in 79 games.

Don't forget that he made 785,500$ last year, so with the qualifying offer that is something like a 5% increase, he won't get much more than 1M per year.

We'll see on the salary but that's perfect on term.

2 Years makes him an RFA at 25. Who he is in the NHL will must likely be established at that point and they can lock him up long term then if they want. And he'll be 2 years from UFA age, which means that in a longer term deal his first 2 RFA years will bring down the cap hit and also means Eller will have relatively less leverage being 2 years from UFA status.

If he's solid at 25 they are positioned to offer a Price style contract (obviously lower salary amount) in term if he's a top six center.

Saavy move Bergevin.

yianik 07-06-2012 06:10 PM

Correct me if Im wrong please, but I think this would mean hed have 2 more RFA years after this contract is up, which is great if we want to sign him long term.

Different stages in their ELC iirc...

2.5m cap hit first year 2 second year 3.

People seriously underestimate contracts right now and forget where we are with numbers, If you fill a team with average players on a 23 man roster you should spend about 3.13m per player. Lars Eller fits that perfectly, people always complain about the cap space but jesus its hard to even get to the cap anymore

PricePkPatch 07-06-2012 06:15 PM

The short-term is perfect.

If he doesn't develop, we can dump him in 2 years for Galyenchuk.

If he does, we can trade him in a year and a half to make room for Galyenchuk as a rental RFA.

ChoseLa 07-06-2012 06:17 PM

Wake up little Lars, you could be a hero in this city if you start playing consistently.

I don't see how 2.5m would be a good signing considering that Tootoo just got 1.9, Fedotenko 1.5 and Pouliot 1.8

Eller have more upside than Tootoo and Fedotenko but he still needs to prove a lot of things.
