Luongo XXI - Roberto Royale

Continue here

I tried with something witty for title and failed ,, I suck at this thing called humor

MurrayBannerman 07-07-2012 12:41 PM

What about "All Quiet on the Luongo Front"?

SoupyFIN 07-07-2012 12:42 PM

Read the title with Rick Jeanneret's voice. Is this bad?

cyris 07-07-2012 12:43 PM

Was Casino Luongo or Luongo Royal really that hard?
It didnt have to be witty but you could have atleast followed with the theme we had for 20 something threads now.

FAMOUSfin 07-07-2012 12:43 PM

Awful, I'm boycotting this thread until the title gets changed to Roberto Royale, Circumvention Royale, or something along those lines

rune74 07-07-2012 12:43 PM

Hmm sub standard olympic play?

many black hawks fans were excited with the possibilty of getting martin brouder(sp) but he crapped the bed in that same olympics and lost the job to loungo, what does that tell you?

Gut feeling? Or heard rumours.

Yeah the trade was just hypothetical, but the only reason I have an inkling this could happen is due to Bryzgalov's performance.

When Kovalchuk was rumored to be available my only choice for him was NJD. I don't know why, but I just couldn't see him going elsewhere. Yeah sure, he would have been sick playing alongside Datsyuk and Zetterberg had Detroit chosen to sign him, but I didn't think that was going to happen, and that was if I recall it right, the strongest rumor up until when he got traded to NJD.

Yeah, just gut feeling, same as it was with Kovie. I haven't seen or found any rumors about this, just a gut feeling that he MAY end up going to Philly.

Also, glad I made HF history for the most lopsided proposal EVER hehe! :p

Wow that is a sad stat. But from when the ACC opened to the lockout the Leafs were a cup competitor. Are we really gonna argue semantics here anyway that wasn't the point of my original post.
Nope, and I get your point, but they only got out of the second round once so I'd temper my enthusiasm for their accomplishments from the time. They shouldn't have fired Quinn though.

This thread title needs to be a play on "Casino Royale," they're doing the James Bond films in order. Can it be edited?

AlmightyPO 07-07-2012 12:45 PM

This Luongo thread doesn't feel the same...

Of course you do.

Again, that's not what I was responding to. "Keep him" to me meant, well, "keep him," i.e., permanently, not "wait until we get the best deal." If I misunderstood, my apologies.

In that case my bad, just everything else I have been seeing says we must trade him before the season starts, where IMO I think nothing has really changed, and I would like to move him as soon as possible, but would be willing to wait until the best deal came.

Thinking about it I'm pretty sure your stat is wrong. In the ACC they beat Ottawa 4 times, the Islanders once and the Pens once that is 6.
There may be more too.

Vankiller Whale 07-07-2012 12:50 PM

3 way trade with Bryzgalov to Toronto and Luongo to Philly.
Couturier here we come!

And they went to the confrence finals twice in the ACC in 1999 and 2002.

IBLeaf* 07-07-2012 12:51 PM

Roberto Royale was so much better.

Did they play in the ACC to close the 98/99 season? If they did, they won a couple rounds that year as well. Too lazy to look it up but getting through the 1st round twice doesn't make them constant cup contenders. They had a good team though.

FAMOUSfin 07-07-2012 12:53 PM

This thread is now acceptable.

cyris 07-07-2012 12:53 PM

Yes they did. They opened it in feb 1999. Still sad but not as bad as you made it seem.

I don't know, look at us this season, by all accounts we were cup contenders, and we lost in 5 games in the first round. sometimes **** happens. It is why the Stanley Cup is the toughest trophy in sports to win.
