cup is ours.

McDonagh 07-10-2012 07:54 AM

I'm pretty sure he has a cannon for a slapshot. Is this the same guy who played for Team Canada at the WJC a while back?

Rangers signing allll the players.

Trxjw 07-10-2012 08:03 AM

Good depth signing for the Whale. Solid offensive skill set, but never quite took off in the pro ranks. Undersized and needs work in his own end though.

JayQueensNY88* 07-10-2012 08:05 AM

all i know is all these minor but important signings are happening for a reason.>Sather hasnt made a big splash and every one here is being sarcarstic about it...When sather signs and trades for players, ppl *****.when he is being smart not trading away the farm and or picks, ppl complain..this is why Sather does what he does and you do what you do..Point is ,i feel a big move is coming.

GAGLine 07-10-2012 08:08 AM

A big move may be coming (they've been trying to get Nash for 6 months), but this signing has nothing to do with it. The Halpern signing maybe, since he may be replacing someone that we are trading. But this signing is purely for Hartford.

parcsalooc 07-10-2012 08:08 AM

signing meaning a possible defenseman in CT moving in Nash trade?

BBKers 07-10-2012 08:09 AM

We now have 20 players under contract on The Rangers. 2 of these are on the LTIR (Gaborik and Sauer) to start the season. Two of our RFAs qualified (MDZ and Stralman) and both will most likely be signed... Bringing the squad to 22 player with 2 on LTIR to start the year.
23 players are now signed minor league contracts - whereof two that have received qualifying offers (Wellman and Talbot) and are not formally signed yet. Not yet sure on the status of contracts to Brandon Segal, Kyle Jean, Sean Collins or Logan Pyatt.
One more player is signed to ELC (JT Miller) but he is still junior eligible, eventually letting that contract slide above 50 player limit. 2 players are also signed but loaned to European clubs (Fast and Lindberg) counting against the 50 player contract limit.
We have ( with RFAs) 22 contracts in the NHL, up to 23 contracts in the minor leagues and 2 loaned to Europe. Total of 47. Plus JT Miller. But not really sure all minor league contracts cout against the 50 contract limit.
We have some unsigned draft picks that probably will get ELC contracts sometime this year.
Still looking to pick up one player for NYR - but the pickings are slim. Maybe someone thought to be on the AHL roster takes this spot. Or a surprise camp invitee? Or, OmG, the speculated "upgrade trade"? Or maybe Redden gets his roster space back - there is capspace ;)
Time will tell...

NYR Viper 07-10-2012 08:24 AM

Good signing. They need depth in the AHL. Especially with McIlrath out for at least a month.

McIlrath
Niemi (ew)
Erixon (if he doesn't make the team)
Parlett
Pyett
Redden
Vernace

GAGLine 07-10-2012 08:43 AM

Taylor Pyatt
Logan Pyett

What is Tommy Pyatt up to these days? :sarcasm:

Crease 07-10-2012 08:47 AM

Pretty sure Gorton and Schoenfeld locked Sather in a dark room without a phone until Parise, Suter, Semin, and Doan are all off the market. It's been all depth signings so far and given the UFA market, I don't have a problem with that.

Clowes Line 07-10-2012 08:51 AM

You can tell this guy is good because he's so cool he doesnt even need an uppercase L in his first name :sarcasm:

Yeah he played for the 2008 gold medal team. He had 9 goals each of the last two seasons playing in the AHL.

Very good signing for the Whale. Needed some depth on the back end.

Or Andrew Payette :sarcasm: http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=15097

155 AHL games, 25 points, 647 penalty minutes.

Funny story, I was lining a game this season and a kid who was 17 was taking a faceoff against Payette and Payette jokingly said "do you want to fight me? :D" and the kid just sheepishly said "no " and looked back down at the ice

Nice depth signing for the WhalePack.

RonGreschner 07-10-2012 11:54 AM

Stock piling depth to make a major deal just hope Sather doesn't overpay. Just wish Gainey was the GM of the Blue Jackets, so Sather could fleece Nash from him just like the Gomez deal!

Anthony Mauro 07-10-2012 12:30 PM

This guy has done alright for himself as a 7th round pick in 2006. Great addition if he can put up his usual, and even better one if he can give us some NHL depth.

I love having to rebut this every time the Rangers make a move.

They had 5 defensemen available for Connecticut. This move would have been made regardless of any ongoing trade negotiations.

Edge 07-10-2012 12:59 PM

People forget that we need to field a minor league team as well and contrary to what some may hope for, the team can't all be 20 and 21 year olds.
