[STL/TB] BJ Crombeen and 5th to Tampa Bay for 2013 and 2014 4th Round Picks

St. Louis Blues ‏@StLouisBlues

The ‪#stlblues‬ have acquired 4th round picks in 2013 and 2014 from TB in exchange for B.J. Crombeen & a 5th round pick. http://twitter.com/StLouisBlues/

SirPaste 07-10-2012 12:16 PM

Well that helps our current logjam of wingers a little, still expect Dags to get traded also. Crombeen can be good for TB, pretty good defensively, solid on the PK, wont ever hesitate to drop the mits, and can occasionally chip in offensively

PocketNines 07-10-2012 12:17 PM

Good trade for Tampa. Kinda surprised. I know a lot of Blues fans will celebrate this, even though the return isn't much. Tampa fans will like this deal. Solid character guy, will drop the gloves (even if often ineffectively), and good defensive grit.

The Blues have traded forward B.J. Crombeen to the Lightning a fourth-round pick in 2013 and 2014.
Done.

EDIT: 5th-round pick also going to Tampa Bay.

IdealisticSniper 07-10-2012 12:19 PM

Two 4ths for a 5th and Crombeen.

Not sure here he fits in.

Dolph Ziggler 07-10-2012 12:19 PM

Good pickup for Tampa. Crombeen is a quality guy who should add good grit on their fourth line.

Blues clear a little space and the log jam is a little less jammed on the wing

bleedblue1223 07-10-2012 12:19 PM

We get a couple picks. Tampa gets someone who will add character and grit. Good for everyone involved.

ThunderAlleyNomad 07-10-2012 12:21 PM

Sounds like a decent pickup, and a little bit of grit is welcome. Still though, would have thought the only forward spot we needed filled was 3rd line center. Gonna be some battles in camp now.

yep, everyone should be fine with this. wish him all the best in Tampa!

HockeyHooligans 07-10-2012 12:24 PM

Woo, Thanks Beener but too many wingers. Time for full time Reaves.

Good for both teams.

Kronwalled55 07-10-2012 12:27 PM

Downie replacement? Obviously Crombeen doesn't put up the same numbers, but I don't think Tampa had another enforcer.

We really only get one 4th and upgrade from a 5th to a 4th in two years. It's not that expensive a price for Tampa to pay.

I will be one of the only Blues fans that don't like it 4th round picks just hold almost no value to me. Looking at past drafts I really don't think we end up with an NHL player at all with the 2 4ths. I would have much rather hung on to him until the deadline and tried for at least a 3rd.

The only problem with that is the wingers with one way contracts that we have, we cant have 3 forwards sitting in the press box every night, somebody was going to have to go and unfourtunately for Crombeen, Reaves has made him irrelevant imo.

Channing Tatum 07-10-2012 12:31 PM

no more abercrombeen and hitch =(

I personally think Crombeen is the better player currently then Langs. I would rather have Crombeen on my 4th line then Langs.

Alchemy 07-10-2012 12:32 PM

I'd say the Lighting are putting together a team that could push for the playoffs.

To clear over a million in salary, I'm ok with only a fourth over a third

Neither Crombeen nor Downie are enforcers.

Elever 07-10-2012 12:33 PM

Would normally laugh but the TB bottom 6 was so laughably bad before Jul 1st that any addition is a good addition.

Drouin2Stamkos 07-10-2012 12:35 PM

Theres the grit we were talking about earlier today and yesterday

Red08 07-10-2012 12:39 PM

Not too sad to see him go. Took WAY too many stupid penalties...

Thallis 07-10-2012 12:53 PM

Talk about a nothing for nothing trade...

Crumblin Erb Brooks 07-10-2012 12:57 PM

Interesting that they give up picks for Crombeen when there are plenty of his type of players available on the market. But he is affordable and only has a year left on his contract. Good locker room guy though, obviously made room for the Blues for Langs return though.

The Fear Boners 07-10-2012 01:00 PM

That should bring some rumble and anger to the fourth line.
