But Morrow was never really a 70 pt type of guy, and he's been pretty banged up since his peak 5 years ago. He's been around .6 PPG since then.

That being said, I was looking at his advanced stat stuff and he plays some pretty tough minutes with decent, if not great, possession numbers. I'm certainly willing to turn around on him.

I'd still be cautious paying more than a decent prospect + picks for him though.

And given I'm not sold on him, I'd be fine with Zibanejad, not plus anything.

If Joe wanted more, so be it. Other teams who are closer to true contention could reach for him.

Do you guys seriously expect Morrow to produce so much more than Greening that you'd give up a huge amount to get him?

I don't like Zibanejad. I think he's got all the tools but won't put it together. He's got second line upside, which is great and all, but kind of meh to me. I think he'll be a tweener third / second liner in the Foligno mold.

I could be wrong, but whatever. I'm far happier giving up Zibanejad for Morrow than Zibanejad + a goalie + more for someone like Nash.

Z has immense trade value. You don't waste it on players like Morrow.

I'd be more down with something like

Morrow
for
Conditional '13 1st round pick. Condition being that if it's a top 5 pick, they get '14 instead regardless of what pick it is.
2nd rd pick.

Plenty of "B" prospects and later picks to give up for a guy like Morrow. He'd be a great addition, don't get me wrong, but not exactly what we need.

Conditional upon us being able to extend him pre-trade for similar dollars, I'd be fine giving up Zibanejad. If we weren't able to, then yeah it's probably too high a price. Gotta assume that Joe would let Morrow go out and try to find himself a deal if the feeling to move on is mutual.

I'd definitely take Morrow on the team.. if the price is right. He's a big bodied physical presence that can make room for Spezza on the first line and could probably pot 25+ on Spezza's wing.

I think people wanting to trade Zibanejad for Brenden Morrow are just as crazy as people who think Nick Foligno is better than Brenden Morrow.

Morrow would be a solid pick up. He is a spark plug and even if he ended up being a third liner then we would be able to ice a line of Morrow-Smith-Neil. That line would wreak havoc. I wonder what the asking price is. I would be willing to part with a b level prospect and a depth player.

Well we can gauge it off the Ribiero trade which was for Eakin and a 2nd. Is he worth more or less? I'd guess less :dunno:
