Washington Capitals 2012 Prospect Poll - #2

I will add one prospect each poll, so post who I should add in Poll #2, and comment with who you voted.

#1 - Evgeny Kuznetsov (61.11%)
#2 -

NOTE: Braden Holtby and Dmitry Orlov still count as Prospects.

Poll will end in 2 days.

holtby tho hard to view #1 goalie going into the season as a prospect

After Varly's first playoffs he wasn't our #1 Goalie and he was still a Prospect.

Based on HF's criteria? Holtby (my vote).

Based on sensible criteria? Forsberg

Add Grubauer.

Liberati0n 07-11-2012 10:37 AM

What B. Ron Swanson III said, although I can't actually vote.

IkeaMonkey* 07-11-2012 10:42 AM

Forsberg is the answer...I really think people are getting a little overexcited about Holtby.

Koized 07-11-2012 10:46 AM

Orlov. Has all the tools to be a top-pairing defenseman. If he was drafted at the top of the first round instead of being a second round pick people would rank him higher.

Mystlyfe 07-11-2012 10:49 AM

Forsberg

Add Wey

They definitely are, but it's hard to argue with the fact that he's played at a high level (not as high as some people think) in the NHL playoffs already. His potential to be an impactful NHLer is more clear than Forsberg's at this point. I had to consider it for a minute though. I think Orlov has a case for #2 as well.

Liberati0n 07-11-2012 10:51 AM

Oh and add Schilling.

exwhaler 07-11-2012 11:09 AM

Add Wey.

BiPolar Caps 07-11-2012 12:00 PM

Holtby and add Schillwey our defensive pair for the 2014/15 season.

Carlson - Alzner
Schilling - Wey

The only question is if it will be Orlov or Green in the other pairing and who they might be paired with in two years.

Mystlyfe 07-11-2012 12:05 PM

The simple answer is:

Alzner - Carlson
Wey - Green
Schilling - Orlov

Hey Kundratek got what 5 games with the Caps last season. Wouldn't mind seeing Schilling get a taste and see if there's any chemistry between him and Orlov.

What's not to get excited about? Obviously a small sample size, but look at his career so far:

Regular Season: 21gp, 14-4-3, 2.02gaa, .929%, 3so.
Playoffs: 14gp, 7-7-0, 1.95gaa, .935% 0so.

My only concern is that his NHL numbers are better than his AHL numbers (107gp, 62-33-6, 2.42. .914, 10), which still aren't bad.

Dr John Carlson 07-11-2012 01:09 PM

Holtby, add Schilling.

Right. One guy flamed out, so let's change our stance on every prospect at his position. Got it.

Jim Carey has nothing to do with Braden Holtby, Michael Neuvirth, Steffen Soberg, Brandon Anderson, or whatever other name you want to throw in there.

RandyHolt 07-11-2012 01:42 PM

Voted forlove

Long live Maxime... err oulet!

fedfed 07-11-2012 02:16 PM

Forsberg.
Add one of Wey/Schilling.

Backstrom #19 07-11-2012 04:48 PM

Holtby.

Add Grubauer

Andrew Raycroft, Steve Mason, David Aebischer, etc.

It's not just Jim Carey. Don't trust stats from young goaltenders, they're almost meaningless in predicting how the goalie's career will go. Holtby is definitely still a "prospect" and people are way overhyping the numbers he's had in limited NHL action.
