Wellwood ya look at that.

Hawker14 07-13-2012 05:16 PM

Having a 47 point guy who can fill in as an injury replacement in the top six bodes well.

Now if he's in the top six to begin with ...

:sarcasm:

And with this signing, the pun train avoids derailment. :)

Wonder what the term/$$ is.

Diatidialga 07-13-2012 05:17 PM

Atleast there will be some salvation for our Puns

Mungman 07-13-2012 05:17 PM

Just saw it on Scott Browns twitter. I like this, he's got good puck smarts, hopefully some can rub off on the younger guys again. Maybe the thought to shoot the puck once in awhile can rub off on Welly too.

Francesa 07-13-2012 05:18 PM

Dreger confirms. Congrats.

King Woodballs 07-13-2012 05:18 PM

Lawless says it sounds like 1 yr 1.5 mm

wpgsilver 07-13-2012 05:18 PM

Im happy, fills out our top 6 nicely. I hope it's a two year deal, anything longer and I'm not as comfortable. Good on Chevy, teams coming together nicely.

EDIT: a 1 yr deal if it's true is ideal, surprised he couldn't have gotten a second year from someone.

This post is bang on :handclap: Not a Wellwood fan at all and would love to see him replaced with one of the young guys, but it is what it is I guess .

YWGinYYZ 07-13-2012 05:19 PM

1 year, 1.6m - good signing. He gets a bit of a payday, Jets get a short term

Rheged 07-13-2012 05:19 PM

Wow.. at 1 year for 1.6 hard not to like this.

Sounds about right, no way he was getting more anywhere else.

i like wellwood played well with the wood last year :D

no, please, no applause

Holden Caulfield 07-13-2012 05:22 PM

Sigh...not bad term and money if that's true, but I just don't see where he fits. I wanted a top 6 talent. Failing that I would have rather given Scheifele and Telegin a better chance to move up. Had no desire to have Wellwood back, personally.

Utility. He is now officially this year's Stapler.

Yeah, I'm surprised for sure and thought they would probably look to upgrade in that spot if they were going to bring someone in.. But getting a guy who had almost 50 points last year for 1.6 million is a pretty good deal.

Conflicted Habs fan 07-13-2012 05:25 PM

Take that Switzerland!

Huffer 07-13-2012 05:26 PM

A year year deal is great for us. Wellwood is pretty versatile, so if one of the young guys is ready, Wellwood can always go down a line.
