As per Scott Brown twitter.

Great news!!
I hope he can make the Jets this year. |
One way ?
|
One year one way, should be playing with the Jets this year. :)

I can still Postma my puns here |
I think this one way signing has further implications that we may be missing. :)
They aren't promoting a prospect to simply sit in the press box akin to Flood last season. *hint hint* More moves to follow... |
"He has a really heavy and hard shot (which) at the AHL-level is legendary." #NHLJets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff on Paul Postma
Easy there Kevin. |

Agreed. I figured that. I just wanted a reason to post a dancing pickle.

Is Enstrom being shown the door?????? Something's a brewing in Jetsville me thinks

How about something as simple a the Jets paying a paltry half mill to ensure that a solid prospect with great offensive potential doesn't disappear from their organization in the next year? |

The good thing is that it's a one-way contract.
The bad thing is that it reminded me that Aaron Gagnon also has a one-way contract :( |
Nice, it will be fun to see what Postma can do at the NHL level. Excited to see what Huddy can do with him.

i was really hopping to see him in S.T. Johns next year :(
anyways great signing Postma will turn out to be a great D man some day |
Smart move Chevy!
|
Fantastic, our team is really lacking in offensive defensemen.
Sarcasm. Nothing against Postma, he's good at what he does, but I would rather have Kulda on the team. A defenseman who is good in his own end, what a concept. I very much doubt we will be improving out 25th worst goals against with Postma as the #6. |

Even if Enstrom is traded the Jets would not by any means expect Postma to act as his replacement. If Enstrom was traded it wouldn't even necessarily mean they'd even go with the similar makeup on D. They could theoretically trade Enstrom for a forward or two or some prospects and drop an FA vet into the D (like a Hannan-type) just to solidify the mix for a year. If Enstrom is traded the goal would very likely be to make the composition of the team intentionally different, not similar. |
Probably didn't word that last post correctly but I am admittedly balls-deep into the first weekend beers. What I was trying to say was that, Enstrom, though a very talented d-man, he also plays a specific style that may or may not mesh with what the Jets coaching staff are trying to create. Being more difficult to play against can also include the icing of personnel that fit more accurately into a specific system the coaches wish to employ.
Or maybe they might not want to pay what it will cost to re-sign him, thinking they can get better value by assigning the cost savings elsewhere. In theory they may also want to make room for Redmond at some point this season. The D group play across the board needs to improve regardless - with or without Enstrom, and the team needs to also play better team defense. The replacing of Enstrom with what are perceived to be lesser players doesn't necessarily mean the group as a whole will be worse though, it might simply prove to be different. That said, maybe they won't trade him and will re-sign him instead. :) |
