Is Cammalleri a #1 Center?

Hes the flames top centre next year.

Vikingstad 07-14-2012 09:10 PM

Winger yes, center no.

BraveCanadian 07-14-2012 09:10 PM

On the Leafs he might be..

Benny FTW 07-14-2012 10:05 PM

Nope

Toastman 07-14-2012 10:06 PM

He's a very streaky goalscorer

Erza Scarlet 07-14-2012 10:06 PM

1st line winger. Yeah I definitely think he can and most teams. #1 center no.

leafs8181* 07-14-2012 10:13 PM

Nope, he's not.

LeX4cavalier 07-14-2012 10:14 PM

Nope. he's a 2nd line winger

Shinsuke Nakamura 07-14-2012 10:16 PM

When he's on, Cammy's a bonafide #1 winger.

Centre? No.

Noori 07-14-2012 10:19 PM

Just something to note: in 18 games as a centerman with Calgary last year, Cammy had 16 points. Small sample size, but he prodcued well as a center.

MsChanandlerBong 07-14-2012 10:19 PM

1st line winger when he wants to be...at points he can be a 3rd liner. When he isn't scoring he's essentially useless.

bp spec 07-14-2012 11:02 PM

No he's not.

Dolph Ziggler 07-15-2012 12:44 AM

He wouldn't be on my team.

Probably a first line winger though

Bubba88 07-15-2012 08:16 AM

no, not really

No Fun Shogun 07-15-2012 08:26 AM

I'm sure that he'd be the #1 center on a bad team or two, but no.... that's more of a slap against any team that would have him as #1 center than as a testament to his skill.

Mathradio 07-15-2012 09:18 AM

First-liner? Yes. But he is not a natural center.

Ohashi_Jouzu 07-15-2012 09:40 AM

Montreal made Desharnais look like a #1 centre by bookending him with MaxPac and Cole, so I don't see why the Flames would necessarily have problems doing similar with a player who is better to begin with. He didn't do too badly at centre for the Flames, covering for Backlund since mid February.

As for those citing that Cammalleri isn't a "natural centre" (i.e. other Habs fans who knew little/nothing about Cammalleri - besides his time in LA - before joining the team), let me be the first to inform you all that he was a centre his entire life before being inserted into the Kings' NHL-level depth chart, where all the centre spots were taken at the time.

Analyzer 07-15-2012 09:43 AM

I don't think he's even played 50 games as a centre. He's skilled, but time will tell.

LatvianTwist 07-15-2012 09:43 AM

He'd be a 3rd line center here.

Probably a 3rd line winger too...

But he's talented enough to be a 1st line winger. If he translates well, I could see 1st line center, yea. Maybe not bonafide, but kind of like Roy and Ribeiro, 1B, 2A.

x74Pacioretty74x 07-15-2012 09:44 AM

lol no

blasted_Sabre 07-15-2012 09:46 AM

Seeing as how our top line C is also a winger, it would be hypocritical of me to say "lol no".

We'll see, just like JvR.

King Woodballs 07-15-2012 09:47 AM

As others have said, #1 wingers yes #1 center no

In the NHL, maybe. To put it in perspective, when Cammalleri was the second highest scorer (top goal scorer) in the AHL (Spezza #1), I believe he centred the line in Manchester featuring Dustin Brown.

nmbr_24 07-15-2012 09:53 AM

If the Flames are going to have a winger for their #1 center they are probably in trouble.

He will be their #1 wing.

Sorry, forgot to add "...In the NHL"
