I vote for Beluga!

We should make this an offical poll.

Darth Vitale 07-16-2012 10:10 AM

Unofficial for now but you may be right.

We know for sure there is Macaroni in the house.

One day in the future we could have a team with Geno, Elmer, Tang and Macaroni. Win.

You must be referring to Grady

I cannot in good conscience assign a corny, Steigerwald-used-and-approved nickname for a player I like.

I am open to a third alternative but I am not calling him the big dog.

He was The Big Dog long before Steigy got to him wasn't he?

I don't know exactly where it came from, but I'm pretty sure it came from this board or someone on Root. I remember someone started saying in the season or summer following his arrival. If it came from Anaheim I'd never heard that but that would all the more reason to change it because people in Anaheim suck with nicknames. That's an E! Hollywood True story. ;)

I am almost positive it came from WBS because they told him he couldn't be Tanger anymore. I remember reading an interview where he said something about having to change his nickname.

Can we make Kris and Eric Little Tang and Big Tang? Tang 1 and Tang 2? Think of the Dr. Seuss photoshops of that one.

Hmmm. I do remember someone saying something about Tang, but clearly it's about the pronunciation. There is Tang in LeTang, whereas there is only Tan in Tangradi.

Maybe we're going about this all wrong. Elmer got his name because of how he looks. There has to be something about Tangradi that sets him apart from other players. Maybe we'll take the Bylsma neglect angle. Think of a movie character who had all kinds of potential and was held down by an evil boss.

JM: Do you have a nickname?

ET: Guys on my team call me Tanger.
I should be a detective. That was some solid digging.

Antaris 07-16-2012 10:27 AM

IIRC Tangradi tweeted sometime that he him self hated the Big Dog nickname, maybe we should do him a favour.

All right then; start thinking about movie characters or something. Because Big Dog is way too Steigerwald. Next thing you know he'll start nicknaming people "Ace" and "Mr Cool".

His official facebook name has Big Dog in it. I don't buy it for a second.

I'm telling you guys, we gotta let the big dog eat

If we want better, patience is key.

Some are as simple as

but others require a little waiting

Nyet. Tangradskarov deserves better.

Antaris 07-16-2012 10:50 AM

I got nothing, I was trying to find a Willem Dafoe angle, but couldn't really think of anything good.

Came in from NJ for the prospect game. IMO he stood out more than anyone in that game. He just has a sense about him and always seems to be 10' away from the puck even though he's not the cleanest skater. Not that he's a bad skater but he looks like he has some correctable bad habits. Still very shifty and strong on the puck.

He really seems to understand a passers bait and lure game. He'll draw someone to him before giving up the puck and also open up lanes with his lure. That timing and sense is something that I just love to see from a young kid. It makes his passing look almost simple because he doesn't really have to go through players but its just so damn effective.

When I watch him I see a lot of Krejci and IMO Krejci might be the most under rated player in hockey right now. Can't wait to see more Blue.

but that didn't stop people from referring to Golimcgillicuttykirkpatrickoski as gogo.

Darth Vitale 07-16-2012 12:42 PM

Goglaroskowicz was not fond of "Gogo", however most people here did not mind it, whereas many people think Big Dog is big ******** / Steigy-like. ;)

Not following your post. Are you saying Steigerwald called him Asham Pie or something? I didn't know Asham had a nickname (does / did he?).
