Ondrej Pavelec DUI

Quote:

One of the biggest Czech hockey star Ondrej Pavelec has problems with the law. Well-known goalkeeper in his luxury car crashed and blood was at almost two per mille of alcohol.

For his transgression came from the court an annual requirement and twenty months should not get behind the wheel.

Ondrej Pavelec is the star of the NHL, the world champion and now pirate road of a criminal record. At the May Kladno ride in your luxury sports car BMW M6 does not remember much. Around ten in the morning and crashed because the breath test, he was measured over two per mille of alcohol in the blood.

wpgsilver 07-16-2012 02:32 PM

Czech hockey goalie Ondrej Pavelec crashed while drunk. World Champion in 2010 was an accident that happened on the 26th May in Kladno, today condemned the condition of six months probation for one year. Winnipeg goalie can not sit behind the wheel for 20 months.

According tn.cz nedobrzdil Pavelec 26th May morning in his hometown of Kladno luxury sports car BMW M6 and crashed into a car stopping at the stop sign. Police breath test when he measured two per mille of alcohol in the blood and was accused of threats under the influence of addictive substances.
Anyways, happened on 26 May. Looks like sentencing was today, 20 month driving ban.

Blackie Dammit 07-16-2012 02:45 PM

Looks like Pavs will be carpooling this season

DespoticNewt 07-16-2012 02:46 PM

What I pulled from that was he can't drive for 20 months, is on probation for a year... What's this suspended sentence thing? Or is it he's only driven for 20 months, can't drive for 6, and is on probation for a year after that?

Ondrej Pavelec: World Champion / Road Pirate

wpgsilver 07-16-2012 02:58 PM

So effectively this is old news?
And the result is he can't drive for an extended period of time?
So aside from demonstrating a lack of good judgement, this is a non-story?

On another note, is it in bad taste to have a "Drunken Road Pirate" themed GDT?

broinwhyteridge 07-16-2012 03:01 PM

No issues. One season in Winnipeg and already he isn't expecting others to actually stop at stop signs... fits right in.

For the most part, only hockey related effect I see could be entry into Canada and US (repeatedly) depending on how DUI is treated in the Czech Rep.

If it's a driving offence it's no biggie, if it's criminal code it could be an issue. That being said with the date it happened TNSE would have known about it during negotiations, I'm sure this was covered off at that time (whether it would be an issue).

Surprised we didn't hear about this earlier, pretty disappointing from Pavs.

It's more than just a lack of good judgement. Try telling that to a family who lost
a relative to a drunk driver.

Puckschmuck* 07-16-2012 03:16 PM

Another one.

Wonderful.

Lynk 07-16-2012 03:39 PM

Looks like he has more in common with Andre the Giant than just a similar handle.

Really, though. Anybody who drives drunk is a flat-out scum bag.

I don't think people should be making light of this situation.

Not trying to pick fights but this sort of behaviour really should be condemned more than it has in the first 20 posts of this thread, regardless of sports team allegiance.

Mungman 07-16-2012 03:46 PM

Here's part of the freep blurb

Quote:

Pavelec took a breathalyzer and his blood-alcohol level, according to the translation of the website, was measured at ‘over two per mille’ or .20.

The Jets have indicated today they will not be commenting on the report.

..... self-edit.....

Really? talking in absolutes like that isn't necessary, we have very few details here. The perspective here at the hockey forums is on the hockey ramifications, so I don't think complete condemnation is required here (there are other forums out there for that).

Not that anyone supports drinking and driving, but remember where you are and what the main topic of the forum is.
