Sam Gagner signs 4 year extension is False

According to twitter the Gagner signed a 4 year deal with the Edmonton Oilers is false.

Source to be confirmed: https://twitter.com/Bob_Stauffer/sta...24939370094593

Stauffer thinks though that he would be in the 3m-3.25m range.

Gil Gunderson 07-16-2012 07:33 PM

Not bad. Could be really good if he breaks out.

NoNecksCurse 07-16-2012 07:33 PM

not bad.

WeridAl 07-16-2012 07:34 PM

Sounds about right.

le_sean 07-16-2012 07:35 PM

Good for the Oilers, hopefully he can break that 50 point barrier with Yakupov on his wing.

Kershaw 07-16-2012 07:35 PM

Sam Gagner may not be a complete hockey player, but that is very fair value for him considering the current free agent market.

zeus3007* 07-16-2012 07:36 PM

Fair deal if he signed a one year deal. Could potentially be a very, very good deal if he progresses.

TMLeafer 07-16-2012 07:37 PM

Seems about right money-wise.

number72 07-16-2012 07:40 PM

Seems low. Perron 3.8M over 4 years (15M)

KingJet* 07-16-2012 07:41 PM

If I were him, I'd tell them to add a NTC

But i think Perron has proved more in his career thus far.

LickTheEnvelope 07-16-2012 07:42 PM

Looks good to me.

Broom of the System 07-16-2012 07:43 PM

Terrible sources.

Perron is better.

It is funny to think that Gaustad and him would have signed the exact same deal.

Even if its one of those RFA vs UFA case.

smackdaddy 07-16-2012 07:44 PM

That's a bargain in my eyes. Home town discount even.

Sureves 07-16-2012 07:44 PM

Fair deal I think

Dellstrom 07-16-2012 07:44 PM

not too bad.

Holy Slapshot 07-16-2012 07:45 PM

Very good if true, almost no risk. His game should always be worth at least 3m, but I think he can do better than that quite easily.

Ziggy Stardust 07-16-2012 07:45 PM

What a joke, the guy is posting a tweet from someone who is retweeting an unreliable source.

syz 07-16-2012 07:45 PM

Don't know why he would sign a 4 year deal at this point. Unless they were overpaying him.

And you base that on what ?
Gagner has 5 seasons with more than 40 points.
Perron has 3 season with more than 40 points, a partial rookie season and 1 season where he was largely injured

Gagner has a case to make to arbitrators that he deserves more than Perron's 3.8M

thrillhous 07-16-2012 07:51 PM

I think this will end up looking like a great deal.

The only city where Gagner is better than Perron is Edmonton.

This. ************* has zero credibility. Tweeted that Parise to Pittsburgh was confirmed and said he received leaked legal documents of Kovalchuk's contract being reinstated last summer.
