I heard three years or nothing at all

jumptheshark 07-17-2012 11:46 AM

I thought this was a joke started by a blogger last week

sully1410 07-17-2012 11:47 AM

Oh no, it's legit. He said he wanted to con back and play for Minnesota.

LordBinkie 07-17-2012 11:47 AM

yahoo had an article on it too

"If the phone ever rang, if there was somebody who inquired, I would give it serious thought about playing," he said. "I just feel the way my season ended in Detroit, because of the injury, affected me playing the rest of the year. Everything was just starting to fall into place. I was playing catch-up the rest of the year."

TOML 07-17-2012 11:51 AM

Covered. He tweeted about Parise and Suter signing in Minny and said something like 'wow... can i come back to play for you guys?' and that's been blown out of proportion thanks to a slow news period in hockey.

He also refers to himself as an oldass golfer on twitter now. Sounds like he's enjoying retirement. After his stint in Detroit and his sendoff in Minny and Dallas in that season, you should get the hint that he is indeed done. But yes, he MAY come back. Just like Theo Fleury, Owen Nolan and Dominic Hasek.

Got the feeling that Shane Doan's decision is holding up the entire league's transactions at this point.

Doubt he makes a return but if so , I say Minnesota or Dallas on a 1-year deal.

Yeah...then he'll turn around abd sign with Detroit.

Marty Straka 07-17-2012 12:10 PM

if you go on his player page on NHL.com he's a Dallas Star :sarcasm:

Northland Wild Man 07-17-2012 12:20 PM

He won't come back to Minnesota. There's no room under the cap. He may be able to play for someone though.

They automatically put any unsigned player over 40 on the Stars.

Wingsfan2965* 07-17-2012 12:41 PM

Somebody else can have him.

Sarava 07-17-2012 12:42 PM

Why would anyone want him? He seemed done the last time he played.

jskramer83 07-17-2012 12:47 PM

coming back for one year is ********, no one ever comes back for just one year.

If they are able to make it through a full year and still be productive they always come back for another. Or they start the season are unable to be competitive and retire a couple of month's in.

I can't remember when someone came out of retirement and stayed for one full season.

Thats because last year Dallas signed him to a one day contract so he could retire a Star.

indigobuffalo 07-17-2012 12:59 PM

Sign him in Toronto! He could teach Tyler Bozak how to grow 5" and add 25 lbs.

Shamelessly trolling, don't pay attention to me...

A motivational speaker that plays 4 minutes a game and keeps the bench warm for league minimum.
