Aurora, CO Movie Theater Shooting

I'm sorry to start a thread on an opposing teams board, but I live in Colorado Springs and I hope everyone up in the Denver/Aurora area is okay.

This story has been breaking for a couple of hours now. My heart goes out to those injured and killed by this indvidual. Absolutely deplorable.

Quotes from theweek.co.uk

"A baby was shot at point blank range, the family were gathered around screaming.

One witness told CNN about "a guy slowly making his way up the stairs and firing - picking random people"

It sends chills down my spine :( poor victims and the ones they leave behind.

Ivan13 07-20-2012 05:21 AM

Terrible news.

Maldini3 07-20-2012 05:31 AM

Columbine all over again.

slocal 07-20-2012 06:27 AM

My prayers go out to everyone caught up in this horrible tragedy. Reading what took place just breaks my heart and makes my blood boil.

El_Loco_Avs 07-20-2012 06:36 AM

Anybody know if any of our posters here are from that area? I hope not.

This sucks man.

Fel 96 07-20-2012 06:47 AM

It's all over the place on the news here.

Just awful and sad. :(

Moo 07-20-2012 07:01 AM

This blows big time. People don't deserve this stuff. It is not right. I hope their families can find solace in this terrible time and that the gunman gets what he deserves.

Joe Sakic 07-20-2012 07:04 AM

Absolutely horrible. I'll never understand why people do this.

Jaymond Flurrie 07-20-2012 07:24 AM

Finnish media has decided that it happened in Denver.

edit. Example:

(That one will get old in a day or so, so don't wonder if the picture show something totally different)

jaems 07-20-2012 07:34 AM

Crazy. Apparently she was one of the victims. Eerie tweet.

Horrified and absolutely disgusted. I seriously am in shock and cannot believe this would happen... at a BATMAN premier. My thoughts go out to anyone and everyone who has been impacted in any way by this senseless act of violence.

It brings tears to my eyes. Families. Kids with their parents. Teens with their friends on summer vacation. Moms and dads with their kiddos. Disgusted, appalled, and heartbroken.

I JUST moved to Denver (unreal job opportunity) and cannot believe this happened. Painful memories of Columbine came flooding back this morning.

Goodness. Another shooting in my lifetime in my hometown...

Ceremony 07-20-2012 08:05 AM

Horrible.

I think she was an intern for one of the local sports radio stations too.

Just an awful tragedy. I can't understand how a person would think that walking into a movie theatre and killing people would solve anything in their lives.

Mant* 07-20-2012 08:19 AM

What the **** is wrong with people?

She also was in the area and escaped the shooting in Toronto... horrible.

A bit off-topic, but isn't there any age limits for movies in Aurora? How came there was so young kids among the victims?

mightyquack 07-20-2012 08:30 AM

Really saddened to hear this, crazy to think there are people like this out here, at a Batman premiere of all places :\

Hope no-one on HF was affected by this.

Not sure in America, but pretty sure in Australia if your accompanied by an adult you can see a movie above your age requirement, apart from R [PG, M, MA]

Fistfullofbeer 07-20-2012 08:34 AM

My thoughts go out to the entire community. Very sorry to hear about it.

Elwood Blues 07-20-2012 08:37 AM

My condoleances to the people in Colorado!

That just makes me sick right there... it's like the event followed her to Colorado. Reading her tweet 20 minutes before the movie started is extremely haunting and very sad.

My prayers are with the families involved.

This is one sick individual who did this. But, no punishment will serve any justice in this situation... what he did, you can only hope he burns in hell for.
