For sure, i thought he would have asked for 3 mil+ but this is one Russian who is honest, devoted, and loyal to the team that drafted him.

Glad to have u back Nikolai and that price, he is going to look like a steal if he puts up 40+ points with a strong two-way that we know he can bring to the table.

I like it for the Leafs.

Most of the top players get paid like that as well (if you go with a year by year basis), they just have those longer contracts/signed a number of years ago so their cap hits are lower. If we can get Kessel for under 7m (knowing that it will be a max of 5 years with Burke) I would be very very happy haha.

Very good deal for the Leafs. I like him and I expect he'll bounce back in a pretty big way.

Pretty fair deal I must say.

He's pretty versatile so even if he doesn't go back to his 30 goal form, he'll be a very useful 2-way player that can pot 15-20ish goals.

I think he's got too much talent to not go back to at least close to his 2010/11 form.
