sweet thought itd only be 1 year, good deal!

Rhino Reilly 07-20-2012 08:37 AM

If he can bounce back this is a potential steal of a contract.

Good deal.

veedubn1 07-20-2012 08:37 AM

Great price for a player that will hopefully rebound from a lackluster season.

Matt Ryan 07-20-2012 08:37 AM

nice signing

superrich 07-20-2012 08:37 AM

That's a good price. Hopefully he won't be put in any more bad trade proposals for a while.

Liferleafer 07-20-2012 08:38 AM

Very good deal!! Guess the KHL for 6mil rumours were garble.

Grant 07-20-2012 08:39 AM

My rule of thumb is 0.1m per point for forwards. 2.8m for 28 points last season :)

Krishna 07-20-2012 08:40 AM

Not a bad price

Man....Lupul and Kessel would have hit paydirt!!!

Fearless Leaf* 07-20-2012 08:44 AM

For sure, i thought he would have asked for 3 mil+ but this is one Russian who is honest, devoted, and loyal to the team that drafted him.

Glad to have u back Nikolai and that price, he is going to look like a steal if he puts up 40+ points with a strong two-way that we know he can bring to the table.

Diskothek 07-20-2012 08:45 AM

Good deal, if he rebounds and has '10-'11 numbers it'll be a steal.

stakesishigh 07-20-2012 08:47 AM

Pretty happy with this signing, I hope he has a bounce back season.

Jepprey 07-20-2012 08:50 AM

not a bad deal. a steal if he rebounds.

BigBrown 07-20-2012 08:50 AM

I like it for the Leafs.

Most of the top players get paid like that as well (if you go with a year by year basis), they just have those longer contracts/signed a number of years ago so their cap hits are lower. If we can get Kessel for under 7m (knowing that it will be a max of 5 years with Burke) I would be very very happy haha.

thadd 07-20-2012 08:52 AM

If he bounces back even a little bit this is a steal for the Leafs.

HockeyGuruPitka 07-20-2012 09:03 AM

Loving that its a 2 year contract. 2.8 aav...

Woll Smoth 07-20-2012 09:07 AM

Hope he rebounds. If not, he is the type of player I wouldn't mind on the 3rd line to get 35-40 points for 2.8mil

ToddRundgren 07-20-2012 09:08 AM

Very good deal for the Leafs. I like him and I expect he'll bounce back in a pretty big way.

SprDaVE 07-20-2012 09:08 AM

Pretty fair deal I must say.

He's pretty versatile so even if he doesn't go back to his 30 goal form, he'll be a very useful 2-way player that can pot 15-20ish goals.

I think he's got too much talent to not go back to at least close to his 2010/11 form.

dubey 07-20-2012 09:09 AM

Good... good...

BruinsBtn 07-20-2012 09:09 AM

Probably the best contract Burke has given out.

Chandrashekhar Limit 07-20-2012 09:10 AM

Very happy with this deal. Has the potential to be a steal if he goes back to his 10-11 self.
