OKC sign Josh Green to one year AHL Deal

Veteran forward Josh Green has signed one-year, two-way contract with Edmonton Oilers.

Jiri Kusi reports on twitter

Corrected as per Josh Green's tweet and AHL release.

I thought he said "slim to none and slim just left town", when asked about returning?

Psycho Dad 07-20-2012 10:57 AM

Guess they must have been playing hardball over AHL money. He was rancid in his call-up.

joestevens29 07-20-2012 11:08 AM

According to the AHL thread, he signed a AHL deal.

Baronsfan 07-20-2012 11:09 AM

OKC signed him to an AHL contract.

Josh Green ‏@greendogg12

My slim and none comment was with regards to signing with the Oilers. This is an AHL deal only. Only place I wanted to sign in the minors

I don't get it - does he only want to play in the AHL? Is that because he doesn't like the Oilers organization, or is he implying that he knew he wouldn't be playing on the Oilers for other reasons (skill, lineup spots, etc)?

He's implying it's the only place he'd play in the AHL. I'm assuming because it's July 20th that no one actually offered him a NHL deal.

If he was to sign an AHL contract, the only place he wanted to be was OKC. That's my understanding.

Cool. Unfortunately it's an easy comment to misconstrue.

Had to do a double take, but I'd be even more confused if I read his first tweet about not coming back to Edmonton.

hockeyaddict101 07-20-2012 11:56 AM

corrected title and post.

Good signing by OKC and it's good for the Oilers. Didn't have to use up any of their remaining 50 contracts.

lakai17 07-20-2012 10:05 PM

great depth for OKC.
