2012 Minnesota #3 Prospect

Bacon is still hot.

With 77.69% of the vote, Jonas Brodin ran away as Minnesota's #2 prospect. The 2011 first round pick moved up a spot from last year's poll and jumped past prospects like Charlie Coyle, Mathew Dumba, Jason Zucker, Matthew Hackett and Zack Phillips.

2012 HF Wild Prospect Rankings
1. Mikael Granlund
2. Jonas Brodin

This poll should be closer than the ones so far although I thought that for the last poll and look what happened. The new prospect option in the poll is 2012 fourth-round pick Adam Gilmour. As always, polls are open for two days.

Ahh, fresh meat - COYLE!

squidz* 07-20-2012 06:02 PM

I probably won't be back on a real computer in time, but if I do get my vote in, its for Dumba.

melinko 07-20-2012 06:04 PM

Larsson for me.

NightSky 07-20-2012 06:07 PM

Mathew Dumba, He will be a beast!

WILDTATE10 07-20-2012 06:09 PM

Coyle for me

Zucker. Love his overall game. Great speed, vision, grit and two-way play. Though I must say, #'s 3-8 might as well be a tie for me. There's reasons to rank any one of the following at 3: Zucker, Dumba, Larsson, Coyle, Hackett, Phillips. Not a bad problem to have.

Zucker.

Coyle's a safer prospect, but I think Zucker is a better player right now besides projecting to be the only true scoring threat in the system.

Vashanesh 07-20-2012 06:18 PM

Dumba.

I rank prospects based on their ceiling, and his is right there with Brodin for me. They both have the potential of being top-pairing anchors for the next decade or better, obviously with different skill-sets, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see these two pairing up for a long while.

Nope. As far as top-end talent goes, it's hard to beat Minnesota's depth.

TaLoN 07-20-2012 06:20 PM

Voted for Coyle...

Dr Jan Itor 07-20-2012 06:22 PM

Coyle.

For whatever reason, I have an easier time seeing him as a 30+30 1st line RW than I do seeing Dumba as a 30+ point top pairing defenseman.

Also, not that he's going to be in the top 10 or anything, but I think Graovac should be an option before Gilmour.

Persian Wild 07-20-2012 06:23 PM

Voted for LARSSON! :)

Haite 07-20-2012 06:26 PM

Dumbaaaaa

This. And Dumba.

As long as Coyle wins this poll... Larsson is next on my list.

Minnesota 07-20-2012 06:41 PM

I had a hard time choosing between Dumba and Larsson - Dumba's ceiling is much too enticing to pass up, so he's my #3.

Coyle really disappointed me during the prospect's training camp. Kid needs to step up his game and play more physical. I can't remember one shift where he used his size to his advantage, which worries me.

rynryn 07-20-2012 06:43 PM

Brett Bulmer.

Mikael Granlund 07-20-2012 06:46 PM

Charlie Coyle.

Fel 96 07-20-2012 06:46 PM

I think this one is gonna be closer for sure.

squidz* 07-20-2012 06:46 PM

Coyle maybe might be possibly a 1st line wingers one day. However, his NCAA experience last year was, well, pathetic. If that is who he is as a player, he's not top line material.

Dumba is the shiny new toy who has serious potential to become a #1 dman. That's the second hardest position to fill in the league behind #1 center.

tomgilbertfan 07-20-2012 06:47 PM

Zucker, I love his speed, possibly our fastest prospect. Plus he has a nice shot.

I don't put too much stock into a prospect scrimmage or two...

I voted for Coyle but it was hard not picking Dumba.

TZM 07-20-2012 06:59 PM

I had to think this one. I'm not fully convinced by Dumba so my choice is the safer of my two candidates, Coyle.
