We Need to Trade for Voracek's Rights
 

Well, the Flyers signed Weber to that crazy OS and are now pursuing Doan. However, it is not clear if the Flyers would sign Doan with Weber on board or would only sign him if Nashville matched the Weber OS. I made a roster on CapGeek with Weber's known AAV and the potential AAV of deals Voracek and Doan could get. It really doesn't look like Philadelphia can have all three of Weber, Doan, and Voracek on board.

This would mean Voracek would be gone. With Philadelphia having to give up four-first round picks to Nashville in the case Weber becomes a Flyer, Voracek could net them a few prospects to replace holes in the system four first-round picks would fill.

Chicago is in need of a top-six scoring option. I am a big fan of what Jakub brings to the table.

Maybe GMPH would start negotiations with Bowman with something around Morin and a pick perhaps?

Nobody wants Morin. It would take Saad or a couple of 1sts.

No way in hell Holmgren gets that in a situation in which he has to trade him or take compensation for an OS.

But it's not just Chicago that he can trade him to.

Hes not bad... but he's not anyone I've ever been particularly impressed by either. If the Flyers need to make a deal with him that's fine I guess... I don't know that he's someone we should actively try to pry from their fingers.

You'd be impressed if he wasn't on the third line with a center not known for his scoring prowess but more so for his ability to frustrate top lines at such a young age.

Of course.

However, if Voracek becomes available (Holmgren would get more for a trade for his rights rather than the compensation), we need to make an extremely aggressive pursuit.

He would put up 60 points. I think that's pretty good.

Like I said, I think you're overrating him a bit here.

Another thing I like about Jakub is his ability on the PP. He's solid in that regard.

I am not obsessed with the guy and don't think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I just think he would put up about 60 points, help out the PP, give Toews and Kane a pretty true top-six linemate, and would come at a reasonable price of around $4 million for what he'd bring to the table. I think he could easily be the most affordable and reasonable trade option in the NHL soon.

Put him with Toews and Kane and 60 points is reasonable. And while you were making the post I quoted, I mentioned he is very good on the PP. That's something this team needs for sure.

he got moved between the third line and top 6 IRC. We could use a top 6 center more than another winger, especially a guy who plays on the right.

Or Sharp, a guy who was our second line center when we won the ultimate prize, can go play center.

Plenty of our guys have been good on the PP in the past... I don't think we have a lack of talent, I just think our coaching sucks. No amount of talent can fix that, I fear.

Solid player, but I'm not sure he's worth all the talk about offer sheets or trading for rights.

Saad was also asked to play center at prospect camp.

I would trade Morin, Bickell, and a 2013 2nd for Voracek.

Those could pretty easily be the lines.

voracek plays on the right IRC and the chances that Saad has an impact in our top 6 this season are pretty small IMO and almost 0 if he's expected to play center.

Kane at center could be used again.

I would agree that we could use a center acquisition more than a winger acquisition without question, however, getting Voracek simply helps this team and makes it better.

I am high on him. I think he'll be very solid someday, but he should not start in the top-six. I used to slate him into there as a lock, but he should start on the third line.

he should get a look in the top 6 during preseason and if he plays well, get a look in the top 6 to start the season and then play it by ear.

I love the idea of Saad on the third line. Not for why you are saying...but to give us 3 great lines again. I'm tired of the third line being the dumping grounds for players Q is ticked off at.
