(Yes, I know he has nothing to do with this)

How much do you guys think he's going to get? Honestly, I think Tallon would have given him more than the arbitrator. I think, if he makes it unsigned to tomorrow, an Arbitrator will award him between $4 and 4.5 mil.

I tried to make a poll for this but it didn't work so I gave up.

FrolikFan67 07-22-2012 07:50 PM

more than 4mil, but less than 4.5 (i hope), i really hope he doesnt make over 4.5.

Dread Clawz 07-22-2012 11:55 PM

I dont see any way Versteeg gets over 4.5. The numbers are just not there to support that. I agree, i think Versteeg will get less than what Tallon would have given him. I think he got a little too greedy.

Do we have any factual basis of what offers and demands have been to date? Otherwise I can't lay blame on one party over another as to why we are here today.

CatscratchFever 07-23-2012 08:07 AM

Funny.

p9ers 07-23-2012 08:24 AM

I really don't like this.

I don't know, but would be interesting. I read that both the team and player suggest a salary in the hearing. Do we get to know those numbers or only the decision, which must be made within 48 hours of the hearing?

adam graves 07-23-2012 09:19 AM

Im not sure, but i have to think tallon offered versteeg at least 4. He's shown that he's willing to pay his players a fair deal as long as they are worthy. But its all moot now, now hopefully we find out that the panthers didnt give versteeg anything too ridiculous.

homegrizown 07-23-2012 09:28 AM

no way is that deal for more then 20 for 4 seasons. i'd say somewhere around 18-19

I agree. Flash got 4.5 for 4 years last summer. Steeger had a good season. Might be 4,75 or even 5. But not more. Hoping for 4.5 though. That would be fair.

Georgia Panther 07-23-2012 09:35 AM

Restores a little of my faith in the Florida Panthers Organization as far as money goes. I knew Tallon could get it done. I didn't know if the powers that hold the purse strings would allow him to get it done. Now sign Kulikov and Weiss long term and the sting of Garrison leaving will fade a bit.

God I hope not.

I meant to say earlier that I would think the deal is between $16-18 million, which would be $4-$4.5 million per.

Today I'm just going to be happy that they came to an agreement.

Same. I'm just interested in hearing the dollar amount. Hopefully Kulikov gets signed soon.

Egblad 07-23-2012 10:04 AM

Great news.

snipes007 07-23-2012 10:24 AM

I've heard elsewhere that agreeing to go to arbitration prevents other teams from making an offer sheet? Is there any truth to this?

Yes. Electing to go to arbitration eliminates the player from the pool of RFA's that can be tendered an offer sheet.

However, the downside is that if the team walks away from the agreement, the player is a UFA.

PanthersHockey1 07-23-2012 10:31 AM

Great news about steeger.
