2012 Minnesota #4 Prospect

If this was instant run-off voting, we'd have to do #3 again. Thankfully it's just good ol' fashioned HF prospect voting.

Charlie Coyle just avoided a majority with 49.19% but that's good enough to be named the third best Wild prospect/

2012 HF Wild Prospect Rankings
1. Mikael Granlund
2. Jonas Brodin
3. Charlie Coyle

The new prospect option in the poll is University of Minnesota junior Erik Haula and as always, polls are open for two days.

MuckOG 07-23-2012 02:13 PM

Forgot to add the poll.

It takes a minute to create the poll. Up now.

elnewby 07-23-2012 02:18 PM

I'm torn between Larsson and Zucker.

Sportsfan1 07-23-2012 02:19 PM

Haula is in my top 10 for sure, like i said LOVE this kid! :D But #4 if somebody could vote for me is Hackett, he's NHL ready and I think we'll be a starter if not at the end of this year, begining of next year for the Wild, the kid will be stud!

Jarick 07-23-2012 02:19 PM

Poll isn't working for me.

I have Larsson SLIGHTLY over Dumba. I think in absolute terms, Dumba has a little higher potential, but Larsson is closer/has a higher floor.

After those two, I'm trying to decide between Zucker and Hackett. I think Hackett's the safer choice and a quality goalie, but I don't think goalies are all that valuable compared to scorers. I think Zucker's good but want to see how he does as a pro first.

Me neither.

I'm going with Dumba, for reasons that are so correct that I can't even say them out loud.

Jarick 07-23-2012 02:26 PM

Carrying over from the last thread, I based my prediction on Zucker's forgettable NHL stint where he was mostly overskating the puck and kind of all over the place. I need to see how he does as a pro. Coyle being able to play different roles, like he did going from NCAA to the Q, I just think he'll be able to use that size and cycling ability more successfully.

The other kicker with Zucker is that if you compare his numbers to Parise they aren't even close (for NCAA). And they play a similar type of game, high end grinder with scoring ability.

Beegoalie 07-23-2012 02:27 PM

Dumba, Larsson or Zucker...decisions decisions...

GopherState 07-23-2012 02:31 PM

That was weird, the poll somehow attached itself to an older thread and automatically closed itself. Never have seen that happen before.

Everything's fixed.

MuckOG 07-23-2012 02:34 PM

Dumba.

FVM 07-23-2012 02:35 PM

Still Mathew Dumba.

Beegoalie 07-23-2012 02:36 PM

Voted Dumba..too much potential. He could be the next Brent Burns or better

The goal totals are similar. It's the assists that space them out, which I'm not too concerned about.

Dumba. Can't wait to see what kind of player he becomes.

Not the first time it happens.

Happened once on the Stars board last week. That's a glitch.

Caior89 07-23-2012 02:42 PM

Now it starts the close calls, I go with Larsson. The guy improved greatly, i cant think of any flaws in his game.

Jarick 07-23-2012 02:45 PM

In that case Zucker could have poor linemates and be trying to do more on his own or he could just have lower hockey IQ which could impact his production at the NHL level. It's too early to draw conclusions.

But the other big thing is that Larsson improved greatly from last year to this. Coyle at least showed a big time ability to score in the Q (sorry but size or no, performing at almost 3 PPG for long stretches in the playoffs is more than just being big). Zucker really didn't show a statistical improvement, which is why I'd want to see him at the next level.

NightSky 07-23-2012 02:46 PM

Still Dumba. Larsson next!

WILDTATE10 07-23-2012 02:47 PM

Went Dumba

will be hard to decide between Zucker, Larsson, Phillips, and Hackett

Which makes the Parise comparison all the more interesting, as he actually regressed between his Freshman and Sophmore years (albeit very, very slightly). I just wouldn't consider a red flag, but I understand the idea of seeing him at the NHL level first.

And I believe he played on a line with one or two the Shores, so I don't think it's a linemate issue. They had more assists than goals by a wider margin so I think Zucker was the "finisher" on their line.

Skog0157 07-23-2012 02:59 PM

Still voted for Dumba.

Next few are going to be the hardest :amazed:.

MuckOG 07-23-2012 02:59 PM

Someone voted for Cuma......

Jarick 07-23-2012 03:02 PM

Yeah the difference between 90 points over 80 games vs 115 points over 75 games (roughly) is pretty big.

Jaykay 07-23-2012 03:04 PM

I'm kind of glad I can't vote yet as I have no idea who I would vote for in this poll or the next 3 or 4.
