UFC on Fox 4: Shogun vs Vera

Date: August 4, 2012
Venue: Staples Center
Location: Los Angeles
Time: 8pm ET/5pm PT

Main Card (Fox)
Light Heavyweight bout Maurício Rua vs Brandon Vera
Light Heavyweight bout Lyoto Machida vs Ryan Bader
Lightweight bout Joe Lauzon vs Jamie Varner
Welterweight bout Mike Swick vs DaMarques Johnson

Preliminary Card (Fuel TV)
Featherweight bout Cole Miller vs Nam Phan
Light Heavyweight bout Phil Davis vs Wagner Prado
Featherweight bout Josh Grispi vs Rani Yahya
Heavyweight bout Phil De Fries vs Oli Thompson
Featherweight bout Manvel Gamburyan vs Michihiro Omigawa
Flyweight bout Ulysses Gomez vs John Moraga

I never make these things but I think everyone would like to move on.

CNS 07-23-2012 07:21 PM

I find it sad that Davis goes from #1 contender fight, a fight that was the headline fight on a Fox card, to not even being on the main card for one.

Also, you're missing a fight between Ian McCall and John Moraga that's the only Facebook prelim. Even more sad that McCall goes from main eventing a title fight to being a Facebook prelim. Not even on Fuel TV.

Avs_19 07-23-2012 07:36 PM

McCall got injured and had to pull out.

I'd be amazed if that one went any other way.

This card is better than UFC 149 lol. Damn injuries.

As would I, but it won't.

I'm hoping it'll be like Shogun's fights with Ubereem.

Really like this card. Too bad McCall and Mitrione are both scratched but its still great for a free card. Better than 147 or 149.

DeathFromAbove 07-23-2012 09:02 PM

This is a damn good card. Every fight on the main card is intriguing and the prelims are solid too.

Ah. Okay. Never saw a post on that and it was still listed on the UFC site so I got confused.

Browne v. Rothwell should be a good fight.

Would like to see the winner fight Big Foot Silva. After the dust settles one of those guys should be ready to take on a contender like Werdum.

anyway been wanting to see Browne and Rothwell for some time.

The Kingslayer 07-24-2012 06:11 PM

I feel bad for the beating Vera is gonna ensue.

Ian McCall out of UFC on FOX 4 fight vs. John Moraga with LCL sprain

Quote:

Ian McCall vs. John Moraga was recently added to UFC on FOX 4, which takes place Aug. 4 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

However, McCall came on The Underground, and said that he had already withdrawn from the fight.

Shogun vs Vera ??? WTF a legit contender against a total can, what are they expecting exactly ? how about Cain Valesquez vs Andrei Arlovsky for the next UFC on fox ?

Brandon Vera is not a can.

Underachiever? That's another story.

This, anyone who thinks he is a "can" is out to lunch. He hasn't exactly been tearing it up but losing to jones, Randy (bs decision) & a juiced up silva doesn't make you a can.

Maybe Shogun brings the best out of him similar to the fight with captain America.

The fight makes little sense but stylistically it's an exciting matchup.

Vera will be a fun match up. Both guys have excellent stand up. I'd actually be interested in Cain vs Andrei lol two big guys with no head movement and bad striking defense.

That fight with Randy really pissed me off. Congo's fight last week reminded me of it. Would've loved to have seen Vera tag him for a KO. Either way I think Vera should've won it as well.

Rothwell out and Devin Cole in to face Browne

Totally... The fight I was most excited for. Would have been a good match up. Now Miocic/Struve gets the inside track to a bigger fight.

Still a good card.... Pretty good names. And Varner vs. Lauzon should be action packed.

m9 07-25-2012 07:13 PM

Sucks losing Rothwell. He's not very exciting but I want to see Browne tested against a relevant HW, and Devin Cole isn't that.

Looking forward to both of the top two fights, and Phil Davis and Swick back in there.

Gene Parmesan 07-25-2012 10:05 PM

Still a good card. Dana White said if Shogun whoops that ass he will be the number one contender. Which doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah, but who else is there? Unless they bring in Feijao or something... Gustafsson isn't quite there yet. Gegard or Lawal could also be viable contender options if they get a UFC win against a reputable opponent first (Lawal/Jackson and Mousasi/Machida please).
