Rangers Prospect Poll: #4

J.T. Miller won this round. LW Andrew Yogan won a spot in the poll.

Please write who you want added to the poll, and give a reason for it. This makes the discussion here more lively.

THE RULES

WHO IS A PROSPECT: We can't all have different standards based on what we each want personally. We are on the HF board, so let's follow their rules. The standard for what's a prospect is here: http://www.hockeysfuture.com/whatmakesaprospect

* Please don't write that so-and-so should or should not be a prospect. It's not up to each individual here to decide, it's up to the HF rules.

HOW TO RANK PROSPECTS: Based on their value in a hypothetical trade or waiver draft. This takes into consideration a prospect's ceiling, how close he's to making it, his health, work ethic, the whole deal. Imagine there was a prospect waiver draft and you could keep only one prospect. That guy is our #1 prospect. Then imagine we had one more waiver protection. That guy is our #2 prospect.

TOP PROSPECTS

1. LW Chris Kreider
2. LW Carl Hagelin
3. RW J.T. Miller

J.T. Miller
Center/Right Wing
Born Mar 14 1993 -- East Palestine, OH
Height 6.02 -- Weight 195 -- Shoots L

2011-12 Plymouth Whalers OHL 61 25 37 62

"There was no one (on the board) that had all the qualities that JT had. There could be someone who will score more goals, there could be somebody that's going to be a faster skater, but if you want to put size with skating with character with grit with work ethic with playmaking ability and scoring ability, no one had all those qualities in their game. He had them all."

Add Hrivik. Who else do we have have at this age who has shown a real ability to play well at the AHL level?

Went with McIlrath this round. Shouldn't be close, but some people are still mad he was taken in the top-10 two years ago.

CT for me. Kid still has tremendous offensive upside, and a great willingness to learn how to better himself as a player. I also love how he's bought into this organization since he first put on the sweater.

Add Lindberg. Close to being NHL ready, IMO, and is going to be an excellent bottom-six forward.

I like Hrivik, but his skating needs a lot of work if he's going to be effective in the NHL. He'll be coming up on the list for me soon, but not quite yet.

HatTrick Swayze 07-26-2012 10:05 AM

Skjei, add Hrivik.

eco's bones 07-26-2012 10:06 AM

McIlrath. Nieves.

rangers1024 07-26-2012 10:09 AM

Fast, Fogarty

mrjimmyg89 07-26-2012 10:11 AM

McIlrath.

Has a chance to be on the team this year at some point. Most likely going to spend the entire season in the AHL though. My guess is they have no issue with Stralman taking 1-2 years in arbitration and having McIlrath take over his roster spot come the following season or at least compete for it at that point.

Add Fogarty

Hrivik played 8 AHL regular season games and registered one point. Then, he had a very good postseason and I don't want to undermine that. But come on. Are we seriously going to get hyped up over a 9 game sample size?

McIlrath add Fogarty

we want cup 07-26-2012 10:29 AM

Big Mac, add Nieves.

LittleKev6D9 07-26-2012 10:36 AM

Went with McIlrath. Seemed like the obvious choice. I'm pretty high on Fast and I'm optimistic about his development, but McIlrath is more of a sure thing to me.

I would add Fogarty.

Fast. Add Hrivik.

Yes. 5-4-9 in 9 playoff games is telling - as is his performance at the recent prospect camp. So are the reports from HFD viewers (who were saying good things about him prior to the playoffs when he wasn't yet scoring) and, for me, my own limited viewings - I think he looks the part.

Furthermore, like I said when I first suggested we add him, I have no idea why he wasn't drafted, but check out his stats at the junior level - they are comparable to, if not better than, Yogan's whom we already added last round (and who I like very much by the way).

Amazing Kreiderman 07-26-2012 10:44 AM

Mackel for sure! Add McColgan.

Matt4776 07-26-2012 10:47 AM

McIlrath. Thomas next to join his BFF McIlrath. Add Fogarty.

Rangers Fail 07-26-2012 10:55 AM

The Big Mac for me. Add Hrivik.

Net Front Presence 07-26-2012 11:11 AM

McIlrath. Add Fogarty.

nyr2k2 07-26-2012 11:38 AM

McIlrath.

Add Fogarty. I like his raw tools.

LyNX27 07-26-2012 01:09 PM

Not a lot of love for Thomas huh?

Not thumbing my nose at anyone, it's just that now adays if a player is short, they are either Martin St.Louis or any number of the 8 billion short kids who busted. Why can't Christian Thomas just be Christian Thomas? (There is a "Leave Britney Alone" joke in there somewhere) :P

Have to go with McIlrath, but I think him and Christian Thomas should both share the spot.

Jarkko Immonen 07-26-2012 01:11 PM

Add Hrivik. Big believer in him.

letsgorangers19 07-26-2012 01:16 PM

I say McIlrath with CT a close second. Add Hrivik.

Miamipuck 07-26-2012 01:17 PM

Fasth add Hrivik.

NYR Viper 07-26-2012 01:25 PM

McIlrath, add Fogarty

He can. The problems I have with him are exclusively Christian Thomas problems.

See what I mean about regular HFD viewers being fans of Hrivik? :)
