Quite a debut for Mets pitching prospect Matt Harvey. In 5 1/3 innings struck out 11 Dbacks, allowed 3 hits and no runs and got two hits himself.

For as bad as the 9-0 game was, this was almost as good (albeit ugly) in the other direction.

Since that game that everyone said was the beginning of the end for us, the Nats have been 8-2 I believe.

Not sure how I feel about the rumors surrounding Blanton and Schoop. Blanton's a solid innings eater, but he's not exactly a front of the rotation guy. Granted, Schoop is a far cry from Macahado and Bundy, but he's still one of the better prospects in the system.

Schoop for Blanton would be incredibly stupid.

I have little faith they can pull off a decent deal to get a starter, nor should they give up anything of value to do it. Its nice to be in the hunt for the playoffs, but they are just not in the position to sell off any prospects for someone like Joe Blanton.

And Philadelphia is coming to town about 16 games back. How things have changed. I wonder how many Phillie scumballs will bus down this time...with their team a total train wreck.

FWIW, it was the Phillies asking for Schoop, not the Orioles offering him.

I'm more than content dealing mid-teir prospects. We suck at developing talent anyway.


e; Deal appears to be dead for now. O's have turned their focus to other starters. Still, who knows what happens this afternoon.

Phillies ship out Victorino and Pence in a matter of an hour or so. Will be interesting to see what they patch together for these games in DC now.
