It's getting to the point where I don't have much insight into these guys so my picks are much more guesswork. I went with Sanguinetti only because I think he's closest to NHL duty. As far as the guy with the most potential though, I think it might be Karlsson, but he has a much higher risk of achieving his potential.

I'm going to say Riley Nash, since there is a roster spot open for him to capture with a good preseason.

On the other hand, if he doesn't make the team this year he's pretty much done as an NHL prospect.

Edit: in other words, pretty much the same as Sanguinetti.

Sanguinetti strikes me as our defensive Jerome Samson.

I'm not so sure about that middle part. Brent's a UFA after this year, and unless he has another nice year I can see the Canes letting him walk and letting Nash take over the #4 center/defensive specialist role.

You're probably right about that.

If the Canes do hang on to all of the prospects, there should be some openings next season with Brent, Dwyer, Nodl, Stewart, LaRose and maybe Semin all being free agents. Now, some of those guys will be re-signed, but if one or more of the prospects (Boychuk, Bowman, Dalpe, Rask, Samson, Nash, etc..) can show they are ready, it gives the Canes the flexibility.
