Irving signs one year deal

Surprised there wasn't a thread already.

1 year, two way, 687K

How the hell did it take this long when he agreed to such a crap deal? I assumed it would've been either bigger money or a one-way in the end. Feaster's really squeezing the young guys.

CoRD 07-27-2012 03:39 PM

Great signing. Hopefully he gets some icetime this year.

Or Irving just wanted to make sure the Flames will let him play in the NHL

WHICH MEANS, ADIOS KARLSSON

tyflames 07-27-2012 03:48 PM

A two way contract really surprises me. Training camp will be interesting to see the battle between him and Karlson

StreakingRed 07-27-2012 03:51 PM

Good deal.

I think the backup job is his to lose, this coming season.

Johnny Hoxville 07-27-2012 03:58 PM

As Calculon pointed out earlier, if he plays less than 22 games this year I think he becomes a UFA after this season. I hope Feaster knows what he's doing, we can't afford to lose him. Personally I would of rather seen him signed to a 3 year deal.

drewskiv 07-27-2012 04:28 PM

I hope he loses the back up job this year and we finally send him packing. He wasnt good enough to be the goalie for the AHL team in the playoff i dont eant him on the big club waste of a player

Um, you know he was playing injured, right?

drewskiv 07-27-2012 04:47 PM

I hate irving i belive he is at best a back up goalie in the nhl

InfinityIggy 07-27-2012 04:48 PM

Wow good signing...he must be taking the backup position.

Is that a joke? He has the trajectory to become a solid goaltender. If you saw the games he was in last season, you would see what I'm talking about.

I felt the same way about Irving before his stint last year. If you watch those games you can tell he is going to be a good goalie.

Sean Monahan 07-27-2012 04:56 PM

Just a genuinely good guy too

drewskiv 07-27-2012 04:56 PM

Dont worry i wont draft him in the keeper league u can have him lol

So this is a pretty solid deal then. A backup goalie getting backup money to be a backup goalie. What are you so mad about?

Volica 07-27-2012 05:19 PM

Would like to see a better sample size with Leland this year. Praying we don't give kipper the net for 70 games.

That makes two of us. Feaster better play him 23 games.

So if he gets five minutes at the end of a game, is that considered a game played?

Just heard Kerr interview him on the Fan. Even though its a 2-way deal he would need to clear waivers before he is assigned to the Heat due to his age. Surely the Flames won't risk losing him on waivers. Providing there's hockey next year, he's basically the backup or else he will be claimed for certain if he's assigned to the Heat. To me this all but tells me Karlsson is gone. I expect the Flames to keep both heading into training camp to showcase Henrik, then my guess is they will either attempt to trade him first or else waive him.

I have no idea, but that would be my guess. Either way, the Flames will either need to stick to a schedule playing Irving 23 games no matter what, or else extend before July 1st of nest year.

I want to see him play the games, it would be nice to know what we have in him.

TheHudlinator 07-27-2012 06:18 PM

WTF is the point if the 2way deal he is waiver eligible he won't be sent down, I think Feaster may have shot himself in the foot in future contract discussions.

Florida?
Vancouver (Luongo moved)?

I doubt Chicago goes after him as they would looking for a starter goaltender.
