Thoughts on Carlo Colaiacovo

Just wondering what folks here think of Carlo Colaiacovo as a potential Hawk. When healthy he has impressed at times, can be physical and not bad on offense either. Thoughts please.

I like him, especially with the cap space Chicago has. I would never count on him to be healthy for more than 50 games though. Signing him allows the Hawks to make a bigger deal to move Olsen or Hjalmarsson. I think he helps the Hawks win games this year if he were to sign, and when he isn't beat up, I think he's a solid upgrade to the 2nd pair.

Because of the lack of help out there on the market, I'm afraid he would get a very expensive in a multi year deal. It's unlikely he would be healthy all year and all postseason let alone multiple consecutive postseasons so I wouldn't want him for anything beyond a 2 year deal. It's very unlikely that he isn't looking for a long contract, he's going to be 30 soon.

He helps the Hawks short term imo, but I think his contract would end up being an anchor after a year or two.

Not worth the gamble given his market value for a multiyear deal right now. I say Pass, but there are scenarios where I would like to see him signed.

We'd probably trade Hammer for a 2nd and then sign him. The player himself is good though, good 3rd pairing guy, reasonable price, gets hurt but when you have Olsen coming along, you can deal with that.

I would have liked CC, but Bowman signed Brookbank so our summer is over.

Solid when healthy.

To be honest though I think Brookbank fits more of a need that Colaiacovo would. Brookbank is more physical, will fight and can PK.

No reason to sign him unless we trade Montador & Hjammer.

i'd sign him on the cheap
trade hammer for some C help
and then use olsen when colaiacovo is hurt

Is he even healthy to start the season? (don't know if he finished the season injured or playing)
