Around 5 if it's not for too long. Doan would fit nicely in the group and we'd be able to move an offensive forward on the 3rd line

Theosis 07-28-2012 10:14 AM

Max I'd give is 6m, but would obviously prefer lower.

Andy 07-28-2012 10:28 AM

5.5 million.

PricePkPatch 07-28-2012 10:30 AM

As much as Gomez's salary cap.

Mats NAslund 07-28-2012 10:39 AM

This is Montreal guys. You want a free agent you have to pay them more mostly because of the inflated tax rate.

Max 3 years @ 6 million per year.

compile 07-28-2012 10:42 AM

I prefer not so sign anyone over 35 unless their names are Mark, Steve, Wayne, Mario, Joe.

nyhabsfan 07-28-2012 10:43 AM

The priority after PK is Patches and DD and in all honesty I would get those two under contract this summer than wait until their value goes higher.

DD will be a UFA and Max an RFA!

For Doan 3 years at 5, only because we have number of good RWers coming up.

Now if we can get rid of 2 out of the 3 lousy contracts we all know about.... Maybe 3 6 million

That what Doan at 4 @ 7.5 million which is "rumored" is not a fit for us no matter how much we want him. :help:

shutehinside 07-28-2012 10:48 AM

I'm more concerned with term and cap hit than actually salary.

To answer the question, I don't think he's worth over $5M per. Anything else over is gross over payment.

PATCHESx67 07-28-2012 10:48 AM

not 4 years at 7.5 thats for sure

pine 07-28-2012 10:49 AM

More money & less term or less money & more term

Nothing more than 4 years or more than 6M.

Kue 07-28-2012 10:49 AM

I'm not concerned about money, I'm concerned about term. We have $7.5M we can knock off the cap if and when we please. But if we throw a 4 year deal at Doan at the same cap hit (say we bury Gomez), that's a cap hit we can't do anything about--its permanent.

Miller Time 07-28-2012 10:50 AM

assuming that he's adamant about getting 3-4 years... not a penny over 6M$.

even that seems too much, 4yrs @ 5M or 3 years @ 5.5M would be reasonable, but doubt that we have the winning bid at that price.

His first name is actually Nicklas

6M$, 1-year deal.

Madevilz 07-28-2012 11:18 AM

5.5

he'll get 6+, but not with the Habs anyway.
Giving 6m to a 35yo, who wont likely score more than 20-25goals and 50-55pts doesnt sound like such a good idea.

Takashi 07-28-2012 11:25 AM

6,5 m

Franck 07-28-2012 11:39 AM

I'm not really convinced that the Habs need Shane Doan right now.

Jee 07-28-2012 11:41 AM

6M$/2 years

DumFries 07-28-2012 11:57 AM

4 to 5 M/year sounds about right.

Erik Estrada 07-28-2012 12:11 PM

It's not the amount that's an issue. It's the length. 3 or 4 years is out of the question.

Max 3 years @ 6 million per year.

Which doesn't mean the maximum we're willing to pay is much higher.

Max I'd offer him is 6.5m for 2 years, 5.5m for 3 and 4m for 4 years. Doan's value is going to go down dramatically every year. He's probably a 6m player for the next two years but chances are he's going to be a 3rd liner pretty soon.

Forsead 07-28-2012 12:15 PM

Well for one year I would go as far as 7,5 millions. The time frame should be said.
