Pittsburgh Wants A Top 4 Defenseman

As many of you know Pittsburgh is fairly thin on experienced top 4 D man and we would like a good mentor for our Prospects coming up soon. Who From your Team is available? And at what price?

Carlzner 07-28-2012 01:42 PM

Jeff Schultz.

Armond White 07-28-2012 02:03 PM

Zbynek Michalek?

LeX4cavalier 07-28-2012 02:03 PM

How about Ballard for Martin, or Ballard for a 2nd/3rd?

gdsmack267 07-28-2012 02:05 PM

:pens

Andrej Sekera

:sabres

1st round pick
RW Tyler Kennedy

Sabres have like 8 NHL ready D men and can afford to give one up, Kennedy could help them fill their 3rd line winger spot in which Tropp is not ready for yet and kaleta isnt good enough for.

Penguins get a guy who can play on the second D pairing who has a friendly cap hit.

Wilch 07-28-2012 02:06 PM

Keith Ballard?

I think I'd definitely take that.

Looking for more of a defensive defenseman.

Moore Money 07-28-2012 02:08 PM

Ballard for Neal

Spectator 07-28-2012 02:09 PM

Douglas Murray is currently sitting outside the Sharks top four. He might be a good fit.

That is selling Sekera low, not a good asset management.

Id love to see Mark Mehot on the pens but highly doubt thats an option since Ottawa just acquired him.

I thought Neal was just a scrub turned great by Malkin :sarcasm:

KaraLupin 07-28-2012 02:10 PM

Maybe they should have just kept Michalek?

I'm not too familiar with his game. Enlighten me?

Done.

I don't think the organization is looking for a top-4 Dman. Their interest in an outside Dman is, in my opinion, top-pairing or bust. They have a ton of guys they feel either are, or soon will be, ready to step into the NHL lineup. There's no point in blocking the progression of those younger players with anything short of a top-pairing guy.

Ballard has actually spent the past two seasons changing his game to be a Defensive Dman.
He's physical, uses his speed and skating to back off fore checkers and has been very useful in the depth role he took on here in Vancouver.

Personally I wouldn't straight up dump him and would at least ask for a place holder Dman and a mid pick.
I like Engelland because of his nastiness and size.

But if the Pens are looking more of a crease clearer like Z was, than Doug Murray like suggested above me is probably a better solution.

PADevil3034 07-28-2012 02:19 PM

I liked the Tallinder/Volchenkov deal for Kennedy from the other thread.

It's a shame that the Devils and Penguins will probably never trade with each other, because I think this trade helps both teams immensely.

WeridAl 07-28-2012 02:20 PM

Andy Sutton for Oskar Sundqvist

Shero shouldn't have dumped Michalek eh :sarcasm:
