Would someone please just tell us who let the dogs out? The tension is killing me.

On another note I see he makes Bironesque moves when puck handling.

Manning because I feel he is the most NHL ready to be called up (doesn't mean he will be with our extreme depth for 6th D).

Same here. I really liked the way he played for us in the few games he suited up. There is something about his game that sticks out for me. As a young guy he looked cool under pressure. I hope he continues to progress.

Went with the Hovinator.

He was the "Mike Richards" of his junior team. Really steady, really physical/in your face, really consistent, and just was in general someone that the team could rely on to eat minutes and play every part of the game at a high level.

I was really excited when he signed. He's got that composed, mature mentality and brings a leadership quality on the ice.

The rate he has improved as well has been phenomenal. I think he's something special.

Also from all accounts (reviews on here, Lappy, Homer, Pryor, one or two reviews from the beat guys) he was a man among boys at prospects camp. I wonder what it was like for him to have played in the NHL and then months later going to your first prospects camp.

Hovinen AGAIN

Mkoll 07-30-2012 05:36 PM

Why isnt Brayden on this list? Isnt he technically still considered a prospect?

Hockey's Future considers him one , but does anyone else really consider him a prospect? He only missed HF's cut off by one game and that was only because he missed time with injury.

fair enough, thought it was more than one game :)

Manning.

DrHamburg 07-30-2012 07:34 PM

Went with Manning simply because at the end of his season when he was with the Flyers looked like he belonged and should be a mainstay as 5-7th defensemen

bp spec 07-30-2012 08:37 PM

Manning

Couturier Post 07-30-2012 08:58 PM

Some undrafted college free agent we haven't signed yet

GoneFullHextall 07-31-2012 12:12 PM

went with Manning.

sobrien 07-31-2012 12:20 PM

There's still no set way we're doing this...half of us are ranking ceiling, and half are ranking who will be in the NHL soonest. I really like Manning, but #3 prospect? Not buying it.

Three things:
  • ceiling
  • how likely to reach
  • how close

Agree. Manning is overrated based on a 4 game sample size.

Sadly, the 4 games he played are 4 more then most of that list will ever see in the NHL.

Also keep in mind he really isn't #3. Gustafsson, Wellwood and Schenn would all be ahead of him if we were "playing by the rules." I have no problems buying him as our #6.
