This is the guy that always some how manages to get a 1 way contract right?

Yep.

His contract should be 1 way, alright - in the AHL and in the AHL only.

Correct.

Good for Mark, I wish him the best. Couldn't shore his game together with the Devils, but has the potential. I've always loved his physical play. Hopefully he finds his game with the Leafs.

Devils Trap 07-30-2012 03:26 PM

He was terrible with the Devils,

he's been EXTREMELY solid on the Marlies ... great role player, cannot complain with his play at all

should be able to play a solid #6/7 role soon

Oroku Saki* 07-30-2012 03:27 PM

Fraser wasn't that bad. He's a physical 6/7 defenseman. Nothing more, nothing less. He'll just make boneheaded plays from time to time like trying to start a fight while his team has possession in the offensive zone.

JackJ 07-30-2012 03:30 PM

A much needed Marlies signing. Nothing more.

Hugo Sham 07-30-2012 03:45 PM

more succulent truculence for the Leafs

birddog* 07-30-2012 03:55 PM

He won't see the NHL, there are about 10 guys ahead of him on the depth chart. He's a good player in the minors helping protect the young prospects.

Leaf For Life 07-30-2012 04:10 PM

Depth signing for the marlies imo, He play a solid role for the their playoff race.

Mojo19 07-30-2012 04:12 PM

Another "free wallet", I presume.

Fleury14 07-30-2012 04:20 PM

looked decent in the AHL playoffs last year. He's good for depth and still 25/26 years old.

MJB Devils23* 07-30-2012 04:29 PM

He's nothing more than a d-man enforcer.

DG 07-30-2012 04:29 PM

Thoughts? I believe he went to my high school. Otherwise... meh.

Guy Boucher 07-30-2012 04:31 PM

Not enough speed/quickness to play in the NHL, in my opinion. Great for the Marlies though.

Nizdizzle 07-30-2012 04:50 PM

Obviously an AHL signing, perhaps depth if we run into a bunch of defense injuries. Can't complain.

Dutch Dreams 07-30-2012 05:54 PM

AHL signing. Probably anchors the top-pairing with Gysbers, although, hopefully Blacker is playing at that level next season.

CF Punk 07-30-2012 05:59 PM

I came to this thread expecting to see somebody reply "Plan the parade route" as a response and it was nowhere to be found. You people are slipping.

Cogburn 07-30-2012 06:01 PM

He's not bad. 7/8 guy on most teams, maybe upto 6/7 with Schenn gone. Not all the signings announced will rock the hockey world, and this is a fine retention.

Machinae 07-30-2012 06:15 PM

Marlies have 3 d-men with NHL contracts right now. Enough said.

HOCKEYGOON 07-30-2012 06:25 PM

He was a beast with the Marlies.... pairing up with Holzer on the PK.

He was good for smashing the other team when they were taking liberties on the younger Marlies.

Whydidijoin* 07-30-2012 07:28 PM

People bashing on Fraser obviously have not watched any AHL games last year.

That said, it's just an AHL signing, and a good one at that.

TOGuy14 07-30-2012 09:19 PM

Burke is continuing to stack the deck down in the AHL and nothing more. He wants the Marlies to be continual winners and start up a pipe of solid young players with winning experience moving up the NHL.

Of course because this is HFBoards and everyone hates the Leafs there will be epic trolling including gems about only winning in the AHL, if any other franchise did the same thing for their young guys, like say Florida, it would be a solid move by a savvy GM.

Those people should get a one month ban.
