Current FA's

Okay so the Rangers have 45 players under contract, 13 fowards, 6 d-men, 2 goalies, & 24 others that are in minors or else where. With 5 spots remaining, NYR have to sign Del Zotto to a new contract before training camp (which seems likely). With this said, the Rangers have 4 spots up for grabs & lots of talent still available. Here's a list of free agents that are still available that I think could fit well with the NYR or CTW:
F: Jamie Arniel (UFA)
F: Josh Hennessy (UFA)- Signed w/ Vityaz Chekhov of KHL
F: Michel Ouellet (UFA)
D: Kurtis Foster (UFA)
G: Eddie Lack (RFA)
F: Byron Bitz (UFA)
F: Victor Oreskovich (UFA)
F: Mike Duco (UFA)
F: Dominic Moore (UFA)
F: Tim Kennedy (RFA)
G: Tyson Sexsmith (UFA)
G: Antero Niittymaki (UFA)
F: Brandon Mashinter (RFA)
D: Chris Campoli (UFA)
D: Brett Clark (UFA)
G: Jaroslav Janus (RFA)
F: Alexandre Picard (UFA)- Signed w/ Geneve-Servette of Swizterland
F: Linus Omark (RFA)
F: Brendan Morrison (UFA)
F: Tom Sestito (RFA)- Resigned w/ Flyers
D: Pavel Kubina (UFA)
F: Scott Parse (UFA)
D: Cody Franson (RFA)
G: Ben Scrivens (RFA)
F: Mike Zigomanis (UFA)- Resigned w/ Leafs (AHL contract)
F: Tyler Ennis (RFA)
F: Jochen Hecht (UFA)
D: Alex Biega (RFA)
F: Derek Whitmore (UFA)
F: Eric Tangradi (RFA)
D: Alex Grant (RFA)
D: John Carlson (RFA)
F: Kyle Greentree (UFA)
D: Zach Miskovic (UFA)
F: Kristian Huselius (UFA)
F: Darryl Boyce (UFA)
D: Brent Regner (UFA)
F: Justin Abdelkader (RFA)
F: Fabian Brunnstrom (UFA)- Signed w/ Frolunda of Elitserian
F: Petr Sykora (UFA)
F: Brad Mills (UFA)
F: Luca Caputi (UFA)
F: Ryan O'Reilly (RFA)
F: Evan Brophey (UFA)
F: Patrick Rissmiller (UFA)
F: Greg Mauldin (UFA)- Signed w/ Gotteron of Swizterland
F: Justin Mercier (UFA)
D: Dmitry Kulikov (RFA)
F: MarK Cullen (UFA)
D: Keith Seabrook (UFA)
D: Jonathon Blum (RFA)
F: Zach Stortini (UFA)
F: Brodie Dupont (UFA)
F: Jason Arnott (UFA)
D: Carlo Colaiacovo (UFA)
F: Jonathan Cheechoo (UFA)
F: Jamie Benn (RFA)
F: Angelo Esposito (UFA)- Signed w/ Pelicans of SM-lliga
F: Mikhail Stefanovich (UFA)
F: Raymond Sawada (UFA)
D: Matt Gilroy (UFA)
F: Evander Kane (RFA)
F: Spencer Machacek (RFA)
F: Eric Fehr (UFA)
F: Jason Jaffrey (UFA)
F: Jeremy Welsh (RFA)
F: Matt Martin (RFA)
F: Jeremy Colliton (UFA)
F: Shane Doan (UFA)
F: Gilbert Brule (UFA)
F: Viktor Tikhonov (RFA)
F: Brett MacLean (RFA)
F: Brock Trotter (UFA)
Now, I highly doubt that they will sign an offer sheet to the RFA's, but RFA's like Benn & Kane could be worth it. Plus, we could also resign UFA's Eminger & Bell again.
*Edit- I'm adding recently bought out foward Bobby Butler (UFA) because IMO he still has a lot of potential.

Nothing there that really excites me.

ecemleafs 07-30-2012 06:50 PM

wouldnt mind signing Gilbert Brule for a bottom 6 roll. He at the very least improves our team speed.

Rangerfan4life90 07-30-2012 07:01 PM

Wouldn't mind signing Patrick Rissmiller to give us some depth on the bottom lines.

Ugh, God no.

Take every RFA off the list. We will never extend an offer sheet to any of them.

Sather is a beast at trading, so losing any trade partners because of that would be stupid, especially since teams pretty much always keep the player.

Secondly, we have some pretty big RFAs coming up in the next few years. Wouldn't it suck if they do the same thing?

Yup. Sather's old school like that. He wouldn't **** around with offer sheets, if he wants an RFA player he'd trade for them.

just shortened the list a bit

I would love to sign Carlo Colaiavoco to be on the 3rd pair for depth. He is clearly the best defender out there. As for forwards there isn't much to choose from, like others have said teams are waiting to see what happens with the cap which may make other players available. I didn't see Jesse Winchester on the list, but he is a player Rangers were rumored to be interested in.

t3hg00se 07-30-2012 10:49 PM

The Rangers can't extend an offersheet anyway as they don't have their first round pick next year anymore.

I agree with the first part, but not the second. I mean who did Nashville offer sheet on Philly to get the Flyers to go after Weber?

Not that I'm advocating going that route, but isn't there some rule about needing to have the necessary number of picks in that number plus 1 years?

Well, no one, but maybe next year, Nashville might try and get revenge.

Sure, but my point is that NOT offer sheeting players doesn't mean another team won't go that route with yours. Certainly you can try and get revenge...but that's after the fact.

Not sure, all I know is you need your teams actual picks to pay for the compensation. You can't trade for a first rounder and use that as your first round compensation. Once you trade away your pick, you can't extend an offersheet unless you trade back for it.

I looked it up. If you owe compensation which includes more than 1 of the same round picks (e.g. 2 First rounders) you have to have the picks in the next 3 drafts. Section 10.4 of the CBA.

So if we wanted to go after Evander Kane we could. :naughty:

That's because Philly tried bullying a poorer team.

I doubt the Flyers would have tried that with one of our RFAs.

we aren't going to offer sheet anyone...but that doesn't rule out those guys being possible trade targets if they can't work out deals with their current teams

Net Front Presence 07-31-2012 12:45 AM

Wonder how cheap Kubina would sign on a 1 year deal to fill out our bottom pair.

keoviero 07-31-2012 12:55 AM

i dont think they'll be anymore signings for the big club. already at 58/9 million. assuming cap stays same give or take a few million.. between this offseason and next we have to resign McDonagh, Stepan, Hagelin and MDZ. i thinkk they all get 2-3mil per year raises over what they're getting now. So that could put the team at 67-70 million.

just saying.

Him, Colaiacovo, or Hannan.

Rangerfan4life90 07-31-2012 01:17 AM

I hope people don't actually think I was being serious with the Rissmiller comment, lmao.

Barnaby 07-31-2012 04:43 AM

I'd add a depth forward and a depth D-man (I'm assuming Doan goes elsewhere for vast overpayment). I'd say Coliacovo or Kubina, and a depth guy for the bottom six like Moore or Brule. All 1 year deals or no dice.

Osminator 07-31-2012 06:15 AM

A goalie, 2 forwards for Hartford. Thank you.
