I think Tampa has done enough to shore up their D & goaltending to go with their top 6 forwards to be here.

Washington's D is looks better on paper though. There's too many question marks on Tampa's D.

If the Jets can figure out their road record this season they're a shoo-in for the sixth spot. They will always be a very, very successful home team and they're only getting better and more experienced.

Ottawa
Montreal
Washington

Final 3

aandbreatheme 08-02-2012 11:22 PM

Washington.

Are we doing all the way up to #15? Or just the 8 playoff spots?

Mason10 08-02-2012 11:23 PM

voted for Isles by accident ..

I think Washington is good, it came down between them & Tampa, I just think Tampa's forwards are more consistent & Tampa has a good coach, I'm not sure what I'm getting with Oates.

Winnipeg, although it's really up in the air. Most of the rest the pack have gotten weaker.

Any of these 6 teams could grab the bottom 3 playoff spots and I wouldn't be surprised.

Winnipeg: Added Jokinen and Ponikarovsky
Ottawa: Lost Kuba
Washington: Lost Semin
Florida: Lost Garrison and Samuelsson, gained Kuba
New Jersey: Lost Parise and Ponikarovsky, but still gained playoff experience
Tampa Bay: Gained Salo, Lindback and Carle, but weren't very good last year

As for the rest

Buffalo: pretty much status quo, which wasn't enough last year. Outside shot at playoff contention, but I doubt it.
Montreal: ditto, but they even more poorly last year. Most likely out again
NY Islanders: basket case franchise, what a train wreck...
Toronto: Brian Burke has too much ego to offer market value for Luongo, JVR for Schenn was an upgrade, but won't get them close to the post-season

For me it's between NJD and WSH, though I went with NJD.

Devils really needed Semin. Now who is going to fill the void Parise left?

Defense....maybe. Goaltending, I don't think so. We'll see how Lindback does as the starter, the guy is less experienced than Curtis McElhinney...though it's not doubt there is more raw talent.

Agree, they really could have used Semin. Then again, they could also use Luongo too. :D

The Optimist 08-03-2012 02:12 AM

Buffalo for me. I think Miller's concussion really hurt them last year.

Buffalo had alot of injuries to key players last year. Myers, Ennis, Erhoff, the list goes on

This team is a playoff team without a doubt. Though they badly need another C, mainly a top one... with them having room to sign somebody and the owner with the money, they will for sure land something during the season or at the trade deadline

I think their lack of a real proven center this year will hurt them more if one of Ennis or Hodgson don't step up.

Well Ennis is already playing great, his line was basically the first line with him, stafford and foligno, hopefully they can pick up where they left off.

Ennis is a real good 2nd line C and already playing great so i dont think he needs to step it up even more. if anything. hodgson needs to step it up huge since hes the underwhelming one. heh

Man if that line continues to have success like they did towards the end of the year and foligno continues even close to that pace, that team is goign to do real well! if they land one more piece, i have no doubts they will be 6 or higher. im very excited about that team.

Taelin 08-03-2012 02:54 PM

Looks like it's going to be a pretty close race this time.

PG Canuck 08-03-2012 02:55 PM

Sens.

CCF 08-03-2012 02:59 PM

Voted Buffalo but could see Tampa right in the mix too.

Henrik To Daniel 08-03-2012 03:33 PM

He's basically our first line centre. It'll be hard for him NOT to get more points than last season.

Taelin 08-04-2012 12:57 AM

Looks like another tiebreaker!

Why ? Wasington is leading the poll with a big margin.
