2012 Minnesota #10 Prospect

Well that was easy.

Zack Phillips came close to pulling off the unanimous poll win to be named the ninth-best Wild prospect. While there were 6 non-believers, the 93.75% of the votes is the single-largest poll win this year; besting Mikael Granlund's 86.43%.

2012 HF Wild Prospect Rankings
1. Mikael Granlund
2. Jonas Brodin
3. Charlie Coyle
4. Mathew Dumba
5. Johan Larsson
6. Jason Zucker
7. Matt Hackett
8. Brett Bulmer
9. Zack Phillips

The race for #10 has to be closer if only because I can't think of a gimme-winner. Once again there is no new prospect until more gets vote and as always, the poll is open for TWO days.

Of course I can vote but just try to sneak it in at some point. There's just something about a "who do you think the best ___ is, let me tell you mine and judge it" style thread which bugs me.

Minnesota 08-05-2012 06:14 PM

Not sure who to vote for.

P10p 08-05-2012 06:20 PM

Johan, High end goaltender with experience against pros and on the big stage.

Skog0157 08-05-2012 06:21 PM

That Swedish guy from a previous poll convinced me :P.

Going with Gustafsson.

Persian Wild 08-05-2012 06:22 PM

Johan Gustafsson for me!

Vashanesh 08-05-2012 06:45 PM

Bussieres for me. He's a really intriguing prospect to me.

tyratoku 08-05-2012 06:50 PM

Lucia for me.

Then Gustavsson, then Ralph. Then probably Draeger or Seeler.

squidz* 08-05-2012 07:02 PM

Can't believe I'm the only one to have voted for Kampfer so far.

Dee Oh Cee 08-05-2012 07:06 PM

Kampfer.

Based on the poll it's close.

Fel 96 08-05-2012 07:21 PM

So close.

Kampfer is severely underrated here. He's still waiver exempt (barely) so he should get a good year in in Houston, but actually might not be a callup for injuries unless we're desperate (only 9 more NHL games of exemption).

Lucia was heads. Seeler tails.

It was heads.

I'm actually more comfortable with him in the lineup than some of the other d-men that might start with the Wild.

Maybe it's just me but for a prospect poll, I have a hard time voting for anyone over 21.

Yeah, if Kampfer is in this poll, shouldn't Scandella as well? Scandella's from the 08 draft class, has 83 games played in the NHL and is waiver eligible and Kampfer is from the 07 draft class with 61 games played and is also waiver eligible.

Is it because Scandella has crossed that 82 game mark and Kampfer still has another 21 games to go?

The criteria I used for this was the HF definition of what a prospect is since we're on HF. As a 23 year-old defenseman who has played 61 NHL games, Kampfer barely barely sneaks in as a prospect by their definition while Scandella has played over 65 NHL games.

It's definitely a grey area, though.

Stuck between Gustafsson, Lucia and Kampfer.

Gustafsson played great against men as a rookie, was his team's starting goaltender, and led Sweden to gold during WJC (albeit an average performance)

Lucia has a high offensive potential, with a combination of size, skating, and offensive skills. Problem is, he hasn't been tested nearly enough to be considered a safe bet; very, very raw.

Kampfer is the most NHL ready out of all 3, already playing in 61 games. Although his minutes were reduced as the season went on, he did manage to log a 31 minute game with the Wild (with is ridiculous!).
