Sceviour. Pretty much a lock for a 4th line impact.

Did I really just click Klingberg...? My bad, no idea what I was thinking. My vote is for Sceviour.

It's been kind of a jumble lately, but Sceviour actually is 17 on my list. I wish he'd gotten more games in the NHL by this point, but from what I can tell that's not really his fault. He's consistently described as one of CP's best players and I think it's fairly telling that the org. put Glennie with him long-term last season to try to help round out his game. I still think Sceviour has more than 4th line potential... for the time being I'll settle for him carving out a spot in the NHL though. The Stars have a need for a versatile player who can take faceoffs somewhere in their lineup.

As far as 18 goes, that's Shore for me. Was absolutely thrilled with that pick and am a big believer in his upside. Can't wait to see how he does in Hockey East.

Yea, hard to believe he's not higher. At the very worst, he'll be a good (or at least decent) 4th liner, and he's got the potential to be better.

Age is probably his worst enemy right now, though, and why he's so low on the list.

Again?

I was able to scrub your vote since no one else had voted yet. See if you can vote again.

I have Klingberg next, Shore at 19. Just don't know enough about any of our draftees except Faksa (and Sinitsyn :P ).

Says I already voted, but it's not on there. Only yours is.

Hmm, OK. Good to know I guess. I manually added another vote for Sceviour but your name won't show up as attached to it.

LatvianTwist 08-08-2012 10:21 AM

Kk, sorry about that. Thanks for fixing it.

Ub the Bub 08-08-2012 10:45 AM

Shouldn't Guptill be ^7

piqued 08-08-2012 10:46 AM

Yes he should. Good catch.

Mike Farkas 08-08-2012 10:59 AM

It's gotta be gettin' on waiver-eligible time for Colt, does it not?

Unless the rules change with a new CBA, Colton Sceviour actually will require waivers next year. The current rules protect a skater (forward/defenseman) who signed their ELC at 20 years old for 3 seasons or 160 games (which ever comes first). While he signed his contract at 19 years old in January of 2009 (turned 20 in April), it's technically his 20 year old season.

BigG44 08-08-2012 11:47 AM

Based on the rules, Ty Wishart should have required waivers last year, but he was never placed on waivers.

He was 19 years old when he signed his first contract (technically 18, but it was his 19 year old season. He should have been safe for 4 years from signing the contract which occurred in 2007. That means at the start of the 2011 season, he should have required waivers based on CapGeek's blurb.

I'm going to try and find the exact clause in the CBA instead of using the Cap Geek thing .. maybe more clarification.

TrillMike 08-08-2012 11:51 AM

Scieviour, just cause he is closer to the NHL than Klingberg and Vance.

BigG44 08-08-2012 11:59 AM

I was looking at the wrong article, Wishart actually was placed on waivers on 9/28 last season. He didn't require waivers his other assignments during the year because having previously successful passed waivers, he never played 10 NHL games or spent 30 days on an NHL roster before returning to the AHL.

Find it weird that Klingberg isn't running away with this, since he tied last time. Don't mind it, though.

Early, but this one seems wide open.

glovesave_35 08-08-2012 12:49 PM

Klingberg again for me. The upside is higher and closer to being realized than any player left.

piqued 08-09-2012 10:03 AM

Just so everyone's clear on the methodology, I've been going to a tiebreaker if a prospect doesn't win by at least 2 votes. Since Sceviour has a 2 vote margin here we'll be moving ahead to the #18 poll.
