Jersey Number changes

With Rupp changing his number to 17 does anyone think Hagelin will change to number 12????? He did wearfor that number in school....

SwedishMafia 08-10-2012 09:42 AM

Sure hope not. I have a Carl Hagelin jersey and I would be ticked if he changed his number. However, number 12 was available when he was called up so I don't think he would switch to 12. He wore number 26 with the Whale so if anything he would witch to that since Feds is gone. But methinks he will stick with 62. I like that number for him.

Plus how cool would it be for Richards to be centering wings who wear 61 and 62.

Hags wore # 26 in Hartford
He wore # 20 and #70 when he played for Sweden as an undergaged player.

He doesn't seem like someone who cares too much about his number so I'd expect him to stick with #62. He had a good rookie year. Bad karma to change numbers.

I like 62, if he changes I sure hope its not to 26. EC to Feds to Hags three 26's in 3 years, no thank you.

Wasn't 12 available last year?

Pretty sure I remember reading a post on here saying that Hags likes #62 and is keeping it.

They just assign a number to them when they first get called up and allow them to change it after the year I guess like they did with Dubi, Cally, and Girardi when they first came up.

I can't find the quote, but I think he's said in the past that's a dream of his.

It was on reserve in case Todd White came back.

Still loved Big Tim Kerr just too bad tha he was done when he came to the Rangers both physically and mentally (wife died).

When was the last time the Rangers have had a successful #12?

White, Jokinen, Kotalik, Dixon Ward, who am I missing?

edit: Ken Gernander, Rich Brennan, Bob Errey, Patrick Rissmiller

Last successful 12 is probably Don Maloney or Kris King.

Mike Keane is another infamous #12.

Since Hags was 26 in Hartford and took 62 here (fedotenko had 26). I have to believe that he requested that.

I could be wrong, but when Giardi was called up, Cullen was here (#5), and when Callahan was called up Ozolinsh (#24) was still technically on the roster.

True, forgot about Ozolinsh. Did anyone have #17 when Dubi was first called up and took #54?

this was a renney thing. i remember renney saying call ups need to earn the right to choose their #. i also remember during a "behind the bench" segment torts saying he doesnt get involved with #s that is players choice and he doesnt care

Website is showing Pyatt with #14 and Halpern with #15. I know Pyatt wore #14 in Phoenix, not sure about Halpern. I believe both players were not showing a number a few weeks ago.

15 is Halpern's most commonly used number, wore it last year.

When a player steps into a number in the NHL, they like to stick with it unless they had to settle and so.... ya... only players that I can see changing Numbers are those that weren't given their desired numba.

i didn't know about his wife. but when he showed up with the rangers i remember him being dominating for about five or ten games and then he got injured. i guess he came back at the end of the season but it was over. that guy could really score when he was healthy though. maybe one of the most underrated goalscorers ever.
