I'll be shocked if Klingberg doesn't get in now.

txomisc 08-10-2012 12:04 PM

i think we should go to 25

LatvianTwist 08-10-2012 12:08 PM

Klingberg here.

In reality, Winther at 20, but I'll be voting for Sinitsyn. :P

And it seems like a ton of our prospects are trending up, but remember than most should be going at least 2 or 3 up with Larsen, Vincour, and Bachman graduating. Adding Eakin takes one of those out, but Faksa and Bystrom shouldn't count looking at this. So we really only have 5 trending up.

Really? Tousignant over Benn? Ok...

Not sure Jo. Benn counts as a prospect anymore. Too old IIRC.

Klingberg then Vance to round out the top 20.

He's 25 years old...

Yeah, why not?

I voted for Klingberg.

Because very few posters have any significant information or experience with the prospects at this range anyway.

I'm a little fuzzy on this, is Tousignant the guy that we signed that was supposed to be a lot like Steve Ott? We don't hear anything about him these days.

Klingberg is a guy I have a hard time voting for. There's the injury factor, there's the fact that he didn't really have that great of a season, and then there's the lack of his ability to bulk up again this summer. He seems like a bad bet to get a fully realized year of development in. Up front, even though I've voted most times around I've probably seen 5 or 6 of these guys play ever, I mostly go off of what I read about them. Doesn't exactly make me that sure of myself without ever having seen any of them play, but I'd still consider those factors pretty substantial to anyone voting for the guy. Still it's so weird how he's been passed up when he didn't get voted in by the skin of his teeth a couple rounds ago.

wasn't it you who once argued for the inclusion of a guy who wasn't even dallas stars property any longer?

piqued 08-10-2012 03:44 PM

What?

LatvianTwist 08-10-2012 05:02 PM

I didn't even know Tousignant was still ours tbh.

I could obviously be wrong but i seem to recall you making a case for Matt Tassone when he was a UFA.

He was a Stars draft pick who was subsequently signed by Cedar Park. The Stars clearly wanted to keep him in their plans at the time and thought they could get away with saving an ELC due to his injuries. What does that have to do with anything?

It just seems silly to me to not include Jordie Benn because he is 25 but be willing to include a guy who was no longer Stars property.

LatvianTwist 08-10-2012 05:24 PM

He wouldn't make the top 20 regardless. not sure why it matters.

it doesn't. if we only discussed things that matter there'd be like 1 post a day here during the offseason.

25 year old and up hockey players are not considered prospects by anyone or anything that I'm aware of. Should I be including Nihlstorp in these polls too? The thought never crossed my mind. Tassone was a 20 year old who was still going to be a part of the Stars organization. I would call that a prospect.

Either way, this is irrelevant since neither was or is going to be making the top-20 list. I add extra options to give people the most possible choices, not to overshadow the viable options.

Considering Nihlstrop is 28, absolutely not.

piqued 08-10-2012 05:29 PM

I'm well aware of how old he is.

He was injured for much of the 2nd half the season last year. He played on the 3rd line mostly when he was healthy. The upcoming season will be the last of his ELC.

LatvianTwist 08-10-2012 05:43 PM

Did we ever give Stefanovich a contract?
