Red Haired Shanks 08-12-2012 09:06 PM

van-dal, van-fla

with dallas's recent additions it looks like morrow is expendable and if van fails to land doan he can be the backup plan.

so to van: morrow, oleksiak

to dal: hansen, sweatt, tanev,2013 2nd

hansen,2013 2nd = morrow

sweatt, tanev = oleksiak

van gets morrow who is a great leader and powerforward. can make the canucks tougher to play against and meaner. oleksiak is a huge d prospect much like chara. van needs someone like that to make there back end more dangerous. though he is a project he can crack the roster in 2-3 years if his development goes well. he is a boom or bust risk but van needs a guy like that.

dallas gets hansen. great 2nd-3rd liner, can score, check and hit. he is young and can really help dallas bringing depth to the lineup. plus his cap hit is a lot less than morrow. he had a great year playing on the 3rd line with 39 pts and a plus 18. tanev is a NHL ready stay at home d-man. he can crack the roster now unlike oleksiak who needs to develop more. tanev can be a 5th-6th d-man now and a potential top 4 d-man in the future. sweatt can develop into a good 2nd liner or an above average 3rd liner. he is defensively responsible and very fast. from seeing this guy play myself i can tell he can be a shutdown forward, and very use full throughout the lineup.

then we gotta get rid of a goalie soo

to van: clemmensen, ellerby, shore, 2013 2nd, 2014 3rd
to fla: luongo, freisen

freisen is developing intoo a checking line center. luo is luo

ellerby needs a change, shore can develop into a 2nd liner, and we get a 2nd and a 3rd.
id say thats fair not ridiculousness and not a lowball .

Nice attempt to disguise a Loungo trade proposal.

I think I'd rather have Hansen and Tanev then Morrow

Primetimey 08-12-2012 09:43 PM

And I'd rather have Oleksiak than any piece we're getting back from Vancouver. :help:

I definitely would. Morrow is a shadow of his former self, wouldn't be surprised to see Hansen put up more points this upcoming season and Tanev could be this team's #4/5 defender as early as next year.

mstad101 08-12-2012 10:10 PM

Does Florida throw in Clemmenson without saying? Or did you fantasy draft him like in NHL 12?

Why Morrow? Hasn't the discussion been a lack of playmaker on the 2nd line?
I know nothing of the prospect, but dislike giving up so much depth in our weaker positions. Remember RW was our weakest position before the acquisition of Kassian and drafting of Jensen.
Also readin our only young and very unproven right side Dman seems a bit wrong when he's 1 of 2 we have ready for NHL time.

i swear to god i will vomit if i see another luongo to Florida trade, for the love of god people we have a log jam at goal tending

Sure, just ignore getting back a top prospect along with Morrow.

Frozen Failure 08-12-2012 10:20 PM

Nope, as much as I'd like to move Morrow, this kind of stinks if we have to move Oleksiak.

Horvat2Virtanen 08-12-2012 10:24 PM

Take out Oleksiak and Tanev, replace Hansen for Raymond and I see both teams liking it more.

Ched Brosky 08-12-2012 10:25 PM

Canucks fan saying Dallas gets ripped off in the 1st deal. Oleksiak is worth a lot. 2nd deal is terrible for Vancouver. They get a back up not even a 1st round pick but a 2nd and 3rd and 2 B level prospects for Luongo and a C level prospect? pretty bad value Luke Schenn straight up would be better than that.

MetalGodAOD 08-12-2012 10:29 PM

Were not trading Oleksiak for pieces.

Good. Because we're not trading Tanev and Hansen either. Raymond+ for Morrow?

Salary, and a goalie (Clem), needs to go back in a Luongo deal, so it's not gonna happen this way.

Maybe include Upshall, but I don't think he's going to send two picks.

We don't want Raymond. We'll keep Morrow and hope he bounces back. Thanks.

Not a chance. Oleksiak stays in Dallas.

Morrow had a really bad year, but he's still more valuable than Raymond.

Flair Hay 08-12-2012 11:33 PM

OP is at least in the ball park. Doubt GMJN let's Vancouver scheist a top prospect though. I think Hansen's a very good 3rd liner but at some point if Vancouver is going to actually win a Cup they need more overall grit in their game. Morrow isn't 2010 Olympics self anymore, but he is still a captain that would give a contending team all he's got when the going gets tough. He's exactly what the Canucks should be looking for.

Tanev has great potential as a shut down D but it's hard to see it happening in Vancouver where the too four is set in stone for several more years. He will be of greater use to someone other than Vancouver IMO.

I think from Vancouver's end, Raymond can replace a lot of what Hansen brings. Morrow brings qualities you just can't get out of young players.

Hansen and Tanev for Morrow and a B defense prospect or another bottom sizer?

Uh...nah. I'd rather keep Hansen. Morrow's a nice piece and everything, but as has been said he is coming off a down year. Hansen's a guy we really need. Brings great bang for the buck in the bottom 6, and a cap team needs that.

We wish Raymond brought a lot of what Hansen brings. How Raymond bounces back after last season with a full summer to recuperate is the big question mark, of course. I'd personally rather give the guy a shot to regain 25 goal form than fire him out the door at this point.

Flair Hay 08-13-2012 12:35 AM

I'd rather have Raymond as well, but he isn't going to interest too many teams. Raymond has always done pretty well in a checking role. After his 25 goal year everyone seems to hate him for failing to duplicate it. But they are pretty similar players at this point. Hansen has the edge in work ethic for sure, but other than that..

IMO of course, but the Canucks aren't winning four rounds without adding some toughness. Hopefully they can nab Doan and keep both the speedsters.

You contradict yourself in two sentences. The OP makes no sense for Dallas, and Morrow most likely won't be moved.

Vancouver wants a cup, and effectively doesn't give a **** about a prospect unless they're NHL ready. Hansen is a very valuable bottom six player, and I think Vancouver has less of a chance if winning it all without him.

Van fans shopping Tanev? As a RIT grad and Sabres fan you should shop in our direction. Hockey trade, who would you want.
