The irony hurts

Tom Gulitti ‏@TGfireandice
Lou Lamoriello said team was happy with how Matteau played at prospects camp and Team USA camp in Lake Placid. Wanted to get him signed.

Tom Gulitti ‏@TGfireandice
Lamoriello wouldn't discuss whether there's a chance Matteau could make NHL team in training camp.

Which teams haven't signed their first-rounder?

I'd be really curious to know what's the average number of ELCs signed during the summer after the draft for players that just got drafted.

For all the flack the 2012 draft got for being an overall weak draft, a lot of organizations seem very high on their prospects.

I think it has to due with the upcoming CBA too...

But I do believe most 1st rounders and a lot of 2nd rounders have signed now.

He's the type of player that NJ likes. Has great size and good genes. He likely needs some time in junior to develop further.

Manked 08-16-2012 05:29 PM

I'd just like to let everyone know that I hate this man with a passion.

In Minor Atom, he was huge and I was small, and I was skating down on him when he hit me in the head and gave me a concussion.

So **** him.

His build is set to play in the NHL, however he does need to improve his skillset

That's not accounting for the players than intend to head to the NCAA. These 5 have committed to the NCAA so don't expect them to sign.

21. CGY: M.Jankowski
23. FLA: M.Matheson
25. STL: J.Schmaltz
28. NYR: B.Skjei

That leaves only 9 players that have yet to sign.

08. PIT: D.Pouliot
10. TBL: S.Koekkoek

Sorry bro, but size matters.

tsipka 08-17-2012 10:22 AM

Devils liked what they saw from him in the rookie camp, going as far as calling him an 'A prospect.' It would be interesting to see if he makes the jump to the AHL this season. I dont know why more players dont do it earlier. I dont know if they make any money in Juniors but in the AHL they will deff be making more than any entry level job out of college.

I guess thats pretty much as advertised then. The word on him was that he was a player that pushed the line.

Devils need someone like that. No one really likes to get in to the dirty game. That did work out in the playoffs this year, but eventually teams wont get effected by it.

Pronger-physics

it's a real thing

drmagg 08-17-2012 10:48 AM

I dont really know why but i really have a high hopes for him. Maybe cause hes American-Canadian?

tsipka 08-17-2012 10:53 AM

I think he will play the current devils system very well. That is exactly the kind of player we need. If he can be as relentless on the forecheck as Zach was, then we have a winner.

Lets be clear, it doesnt take skill to be relentless on the forecheck. It takes relentlessness
