Donald Audette: New Habs' scout

Renaud P Lavoie ‏@RenLavoieRDS
Donald Audette will be a scout for the Montréal Canadiens in Québec.

Isn't his son a great Midget AAA prospect? :sarcasm:

Junior prospect... 1st overall pick.

Dr Gonzo 08-17-2012 10:37 AM

The more scouts the merrier.

First reaction: lol

Second reaction: lol

Third reaction: good to add some scouts to QC.

IHaveNoCreativity 08-17-2012 10:42 AM

I'm sure he'll watch alot of Sherbrooke games...

Whitesnake 08-17-2012 10:46 AM

As you all know, I have no problem adding scouts in the Q. It's obviously fine enough for me. And while there are no classes to be taken and since I also believe a whole lot of people can do the job.....I would love, it's not over, to see professionnal scouts be appointed. Would be great to see guys like Chainey, Nolet or those guys be hired. Especially Nolet. I know we had one before in Michel Boucher I wasn't too fond of, but others could have been more helpful.

Yet, like somebody said, the more the merrier.

Avim86 08-17-2012 10:48 AM

I'll always remember him for that dive trying to stop a breakaway and his wrist got run over by the player in question and he just started bleeding like crazy.

More scouting news:
Canadiens Montréal ‏@CanadiensMTL
Mark Mowers named as pro scout (Eastern Conference).

Bullsmith 08-17-2012 10:54 AM

Very glad to see us adding to our home-province scouting. It's clear Bergevin has a soft spot for ex-players like himself, which isn't necessarily a good thing or a bad thing. This is the kind of hiring that will reveal how good Bergevin's evaluation of staff, not just players, is. I, of course, hope Audette turns out to be a stud for us. Wouldn't it be great if the next Claude Giroux didn't slip through our fingers?

Habs 4 Life 08-17-2012 11:07 AM

Good for him, always liked him so welcome to the team

Pressure to draft his son :naughty:

poetryinmotion 08-17-2012 11:15 AM

Audette is a great hockey mind, I am ecstatic about this.

PunkinDrublic* 08-17-2012 11:27 AM

How come Gauthier and Gainey didn't recognize this lack of scouting ?????

IIRC Gauthier canned a bunch of scouts in favour of 'video scouting'

Former Bruins broadcaster? We'll see how he does.

I do like that Bergy is reversing PG's idiotic downsizing of the scouting department as if Montreal needed to cut costs.

Still, I wish we were able to woo Nolet away from Philly.

Dr Gonzo 08-17-2012 11:49 AM

I'm not sure if that's the same guy, I dont remember him being a broadcaster.

The guy they signed was playing in Switzerland last year.

He did play a season with the Bruins though.

Mowers? He retired from Hockey in 2011 and spent last year working for NESN. I watched him a couple of times. I can't say he really impressed me, but he wasn't terrible.

Fair enough, thanks for the info.

Didn't know he worked for NESN.

Coldplay 08-17-2012 12:19 PM

Who cares how good or bad Mowers was?

montreal 08-17-2012 12:51 PM

Was Audette coaching somewhere? For some reason I thought I read he was (not at a high level) but I could easily be mistaken and don't feel like looking it up since i'm at work and actually sort of busy.

Thanks, I thought I read something about him working with a midget team.

If only we could hire Jack Edwards as a scout... now that Mowers is ours!

Anything to keep him off the air.

Very happy about this hiring, if only because I really like that Bergevin understands the importance of having a lot of scouting personel. This is where being a rich team makes a difference.
