Dean Lombardi radio interview

From earlier this week on the air in Edmonton...it's a little less than 20 minutes.

You can tell he really is close to the players and how important having the right players on histeam really is. He spoke about how hard it was to stick by his choice of building thru the draft and when it was the right time to make his trades, etc.
and how that culture will keep his team from being complacent post Cup.

In discussing how important it was to get Mike Richards and how devastated Richards was when he was traded- He said he told him:

"Mike, you can follow Bobby Clarke in PHilly or be Bobby Clarke in LA."

and the Cup(s) did follow....

Love Lombardi. "Do you ever get tired of hearing that?" (Referring to Nick Nickson's now-classic closing championship statement.) "Nah I don't think so Bob. Play it again."

Outstanding interview, intriguing questions asked by the host. Lombardi actually queried other GMs for advice in different sports who won multiple championships (he just has to walk across the hall for one of those) and got some interesting feedback on how to build upon a championship team.

Jerry West would be the man he wants to talk to, although Kupchak has done well considering the pressure and characters he has had to deal with.

Well kupchak has certainly learned alot from the logo. This offseason he really gave Kobe a final shot or 2 at glory.

Im sure it doest hurt that Jerry buss is one of the best owners in professional sports.

I will listen to it tomorrow but I love that Bobby Clarke comment! Richie gets his day with the Cup tomorrow, I hope Arnold gets a photo op with it!
