The Mathieu Brisson who was at the Remparts camp and now who's attending the the Tigres camp, is it the Mathieu Brisson who played for Cornell the last two years?

Walsh will not play before December.

For Shea, Etchegary was better at the camp, but i think Shea will be on second line soon.

That will give them a boost when he returns.

hockey365 08-22-2012 11:46 AM

Has anyone seen Sorensen skate/play beforehe he got injurred? If yes, what did you think of him? I understand it's a minor injury and should be back very shortly.

And why the 3 goalies? I understand Brassard is #1, and from what I read this morning in La Presse de Qc, Roy stated that Fortin slightly surpassed Campeau. For those who were at the camp, what do you think?

Fortin was better than Campeau in both games last weekend. We haven't seen a lot but so far, Fortin looks like another well spent 6th round pick! (Brassard was also a 6th round pick last year)

---

Roy wants to use his young defensemen with an older teammate for the first month. Defense will look like this:

Hunter (18) - Lefebvre (20)
MacIntyre (16) - Culkin (19)
Gingras (17) - Carrier (20)

Me too, especially after last years playoffs.

What took place with Mattheiu Brisson ? Did he end up attending then leaving ?

SergeConstantin74 09-02-2012 09:56 AM

They released Brisson, he had a try out with Victo and they also released him.

Don't know where he is now.

Quebec didn't want to pay a compensationpick to PI for him (2nd round). He was good during the camp though.

So basically he's good enough for the league, but no one wants to pay the price for him ?

I think he's 20 years old as well. That dosn't help. A 2nd round pick is not that much.

All picks help.

For sure. It's just strange to see 2 teams cut him. Several people had him pencilled in as a lock if he reported to camp and now 2 teams pass on him for a low cost.

SergeConstantin74 09-02-2012 08:03 PM

Quebec would have probably kept him if it wasn't for the 2nd pick.

I don't know about rules but if Quebec releases him and a team takes him on waivers, does the compensation to PEI still exist?

According to this article, Roy showed loyalty to the 3 20 yr olds already on the team. Victo had space for a 20 yr old, but not sure why they cut him

Does he have attitude problems ?

RJQuack 09-02-2012 09:31 PM

Is he better than Gillard? Guess it doesn't matter. Moose show loyalty to their players and he's one of the longest serving members on our roster... Hell he sounds like he's better than Brisson tbh

Never heard of attitude problems.

It's hard to know his value. He only played in 3 scrimmages in Quebec.

He was top 3 in his age group at 16-17... but his development seems to have stalled.

If we compare:

2007-08 (15 yo) : 38 pts in 45 games in MAAA
2008-09 (16 yo) : 50 pts in 40 games in MAAA

Sam Carrier:
2007-08 (15 yo) : 33 pts in 45 games in MAAA

J. G-Leduc:
2007-08 (15 yo) : 22 pts in 43 games in MAAA

J. Blain:
2007-08 (15 yo) : 23 pts in 45 games in MAAA

M. Lefebvre:
2007-08 (15 yo) : 18 pts in 44 games in MAAA
2008-09 (16 yo) : 30 pts in 34 games in MAAA

He had more points in MAAA than the top offensive defensemen in his draft class. He went to the USHL at 17 and was considered as a top candidate for the NHL draft at the beginning of his draft season. He never got drafted and his potential vanished. It's safe to say going there didn't help him. I think the QMJHL would have been better for his kind of game.
