Where will Andrei Kostitsyn go?

Just realised he is still a UFA, am absolutely amazed that he hasn't signed a deal yet...my only guess is that he is waiting to see if there is a lockout.

Would absolutely love to have him on the sharks, but it won't happen. Which teams do you think are the most likely destinations.

Phoenix is definitely in need of scoring help

Islands have loads of cap space

Maybe Washington to replace Semin for a lower cap hit (is more physical too)

What do you think? Price tag will be 3-4 million depending on years

DisgruntledHawkFan 08-23-2012 02:51 AM

Khl.

Korolyuk15 08-23-2012 03:03 AM

Has he already signed a deal there or just a guess?

The Zetterberg Era 08-23-2012 03:11 AM

It does not surprise me he isn't signed. If the Wings are forced to trade Filppula or Franzen to land a top 4 and just don't make the choice to see what they have on defense and look for other deals I would be interested. My guess is the Wings management wouldn't and I don't fault them. He is a good hockey player but he is inconsistent and the whole Nashville incident didn't help his already numerous concerns for teams.

I could very well see him winding up in the KHL. Although it is interesting those teams are in pre-season mode over in Europe. So if that is the route he is going he will need to do so quickly probably.

It seems like teams are in a holding pattern because of Shane Doan, which just seems beyond stupid to me. As a Pens fan, I'd rather have Kostitsyn.

Agreed. Kostitsyn would look fantastic on Crosby's wing, or Malkin's wing for that matter.

You'll be pretty frustrated tbh, every now and then he uses his size like he should and then 90% of the time he just wings it and you feel so defeated watching him

SoupNazi 08-23-2012 08:05 AM

He'll be the next guy there's a bidding war over after Doan signs.

That would change on crosbys wing im sure

Habsterix* 08-23-2012 08:26 AM

He'll be in the KHL, lockout or not. That's my guess.

Psycho Papa Joe 08-23-2012 08:49 AM

Apparantly NJ needs a top 2 line winger.

Yup but playing along side Crosby or Malkin is probably what he needs. Not a bad player and can definitely help a team. I expect him to sign right after Doan

Actually, he's nothing you've described. You'll be frustrated if you think he's a very good player. Thing is he's a secondary piece good for 25 goals. Nothing more! He's good for 100 hit's 20+ goals and sound defensive play.. What's not to like ?

He already said no to a 6M offer from KHL ? HATERS GONNA HATE?

Shrimper 08-23-2012 10:15 AM

He was apparently offered a role by the Penguins. Not heard anything since.

ilikeblocks 08-23-2012 10:33 AM

He will play in the NHL - if he was going to the KHL, he would already be over there as the season starts soon.

Also, Belarus and Russia don't exactly have the best history.

Vankiller Whale 08-23-2012 10:36 AM

I'd be lukewarm if the Canucks signed him. He fits a need, bu meh.

Crede777 08-23-2012 10:39 AM

My guess is Columbus.

Howson has been very adamant about trying to compile a team focused on grit and character / leadership. However, he's an idiot. So I think he'll contradict himself and go after AK.

tsipka 08-23-2012 10:49 AM

Devils need that top 6 winger with the exit of Parise. I dont really know the type of player he is, but if I would sign him to the devils in NHL 13 with this current roster.

BruinsBtn 08-23-2012 10:57 AM

Gotta be waiting for Doan to sign.

Someone will pay him way too much.

I feel the same way. He's good for 20-25, and that's really all he'll
bring. The 2nd point is that my GM is hugely reticent of signing players with his ethic, and now baggage. Then there is the Grabovski
factor.

Isn't he kind of the the opposite?
