2012-13 point total prediction: Olli Jokinen
Once again, this will depend on line mates / usage.
IMHO this is the toughest one to guess. A lot of his points come from the PP which tends to be more volatile (plus Jets QB from the blue-line, not the half-boards) and a lot of his points come from playing with Iginla. Last season he lead his team in being lined up against the highest QoC and one of the lowest OZ starts. He most likely will be playing with Kane and one of Welly/Wheeler/Burmi/Antro throughout the year, so the question is: will being more sheltered and with Kane equal out working with Iginla...
I'll pretend that it does work out:
Glencross (739:10), Iginla (645:16), Tanguay (176:49), Moss (164:05)
Most common D on ice with (in order):
Bouwmeester (572:41), Butler (458:13), Hanan (400:59), Giordano (326:31)
Also for those of you who fear placing Jokinen with Kane because Jokinen is a "shoot-first" player.
1) Jokinen took less shots last year than either Kane or Ladd so there isn't much of a difference between centring either one of those two.
2) Jokinen found great chemistry with Iginla who is the leader in SOG for his team:
This table shows how many goals per 20mins Calgary scored when they were both on the ice or when Iginla was alone:
Just to add...
Using TOI as a measurement for competition levels, Jokinen faced the second hardest forwards competition in the league. The forwards he lined up most against:
Sedin twins, Kopitar, Datsyuk, Thornton, etc
I'll go 55-59 points. Around 20-25 goals, 35-40 assists.
