And the Linus Omark saga continues.

Linus Omark ‏@Limpanomark
Finally i got a new team, looking forward to play for Zug!

I will try to persevere and not have this send my day into dissaray.

phil steve 08-29-2012 06:33 AM

in before nacho says "oilers made a huge mistake in not giving this guy top six minutes and first unit pp time"

kind of sad to see him go overseas as I think he might have been able to crack a line up someone in the nhl but in reality his game is better suited for europe.

Do the Oilers retain his NHL rights?

I'm pretty sure they do, not that it really matters.

Tarus 08-29-2012 06:56 AM

Name rings a bell...

Didn't he have a short stint on the Oiler? Been so long now I don't even remember.

thadd 08-29-2012 07:23 AM

Wow... Robbie Schremp didn't even do that to us... I guess he knows he's a bust.

Too bad. Would've liked to have his point in the AHL next season.

BUM

Well, in some way, we may now see how Linus career has become and will continue. According to himself in an interview he was recruited to lead the teams powerplay and become a central player of the team.

Obviously the swiss league is worse quality wise then both SEL and KHL (but likley getting better paid then in SEL). If he doesn't rip it up, then Linus likley may fad from the memory of the masses.
However if he delivers and steping up to be the playmaker the once was, then a comeback to the NHL isn't out of the question, imo.

McClelland 08-29-2012 08:20 AM

I think a wize decision when we could expect a very short Nhl season or none!
1 year deal(clausul to leave for nhl?) a chance to play hockey and get his career back on track, He would likely have a lot of chances to play in the team sweden and play the wc. Zug won over Klefboms team in european trophy recently, so the top teams is about sel standard but with lower bottom. I think we hasnt seen the last of him in Nhl, only a move made from the coming lockout and oilers sitting on the rights.

I guess, the reality is probably more along the lines of this being the "next logical step" in his career as opposed to a spring board for a "comeback"

joestevens29 08-29-2012 08:41 AM

If he wanted to make the NHL you sign in the KHL or SEL.

I guess in reality "the next logical step" of ones career and beeing a springboard for "comback" can co-exist...

YOu dont have a clue aint you? Sweden doesnt let in lockout players who will return!
So switzerland would be a nr 1 choice for locked out nhl players, so the leauge would be better then sel and also khl.

If he gives up his nhl dream ,he would signed for khl longterm, he can actually end up in Nhl after the lock out(dont know his 1 year deal).

PS, maybee omark ends up in the same line as taylor Hall, saw his first choice was switzerland):amazed:

I think you're missing my point.

As the "next logical step" it's Omark understanding he's likely better suited as a career European Pro and less he wants to "show people" or make a "Comeback"

Though, I failed to see how he can make a "comeback," as Omark never really made it in the first place.

Why is it better than the KHL? Hall and Omark are different situations too. Omark is trying to make the NHL he needs to play against the best possible competition.

He's not locked out, he's Not signed. And, yes, JS is right, if you want to be an NHL player, you have to try to play against the best competition, the Swiss league isn't that.

The same rules for him ,signed in sweden he cant leave for nhl in the middle of the season. Swiss leauge would be a much better leauge due the lockout with a Nhl invasion. The media coverage from canada make it a better window for him to showcase, and thats why he signed 1 year there (i think).

ManByng 08-29-2012 09:08 AM

Im not a brainreader! in my post above i try to explain how i think he thinks!
A lot of Nhl players goes to switzerland, whos knowned to take on shortterm help.
The leauge would be the number one choice for the Nhl ers who rather speak english and flying safely. The russian and czhecks maybe go to khl!

For the last time Swiss leauge is going to be a very good leauge with lot of media and scout intrest when the lock out starts, and it will very soon.

Well best of luck to omark, personally i thought he'd end up on some other teams ahl affiliate like columbus or nyi or something, Omark always seemed to think he was better then he really was. I don't know if we'll be seeing him again but i doubt he will become a nhl regular

Thanks for the spin-o-rama that was cool while it lasted

A lot go there because it's a holiday for them, a real nice country to play in.

Again you are speaking like Omark is a NHLer, he isn't he doesn't need a holiday he needs a league that is going to push him to his max.

CornKicker 08-29-2012 09:21 AM

hahahaha lol KHL and SEL didnt even want him oh man, egg on someone face for sure.
