Some people to be added, let me know what you all think
Jay Barriball (do we still have him?), Tyler Shattock, Nicklas Lundstrom, Teemu Eronen, Paul Karpowich, Mark Cundari, Stefan Della Rovere, Brett Sonne, Colten Parayko, Nick Walters, Francois Tremblay, etc.

Might as well add Parayko if we're going with 2012 draft picks. He has more upside than anyone else on the list.

Anyway, I went with Ponich again.

Went with Edmundson. He's better than Ponich in every way except height IMO...and he's still a pretty big boy at 6'4".

After him I'd go with Jaskin. I think he's going to do well in the QMJHL this season and he should be the leader for the Czechs at the WJCs as well.

Still Edmundson.

Think I'd go Veilleux after that

I guess I don't know much about Edmundson.

Jay Barriball (do we still have him?) (yes), Tyler Shattock, Nicklas Lundstrom, Teemu Eronen, Paul Karpowich, Mark Cundari, Stefan Della Rovere, Brett Sonne, Colten Parayko, Nick Walters, Francois Tremblay, etc.

Add any of the highlighted guys, and consider Tyrel Seaman and Petteri Lindbohm. I think Seaman could be an absolute steal if he comes back strong from his injury, and if he has the kind of season this year that he teased at the start of last year.

I went with Veilleux for this pick, but was considering Nigro, Beach and Edmundson, too.

Went with Edmundson. I am really intrigued by Lundstrom and hope we might have found a goalie in the late rounds for once.

I had to go with Edmundson. He is more likely to have a more well-rounded game than Ponich, in the end. And Jaskin and the younger players have too many "ifs".

His HF profile has him listed at 6'5. Not sure if that's accurate but I voted for Edmundson as well. I also have high expectations of Jaškin. After being drafted 1st overall in the KHL I was really surprised when we landed him late in the second round. Should be neat to see how he handles the Q this season.

I went with Ponich. While Edmundson projected skills are better than Ponich, Ponich has been able to bring his game to the next level. Edmundson could be a better player long term with more offensive upside, if he can play the speed of the next level. I'm hoping for big things from Ponich....:D...this year, and improve on his impressive +/- as well as taking on more responsibility in a shut down role. Really...either defenseman is a decent pick here. Lots of toughness, size, and defensive game either way.

Looking at Andronov, I can't help but remember all of the Russians being drafted with 5 points in 40 games and they are projected to be a sniper or top 3 to 6 forward. Most of the teams in the KHL have at least 5 guys that were AHL/NHL players that generally put up 20 goals and 40 to 50 points in the AHL and were at least 20 to 40 point guys in the NHL. Many of them had similar stats early in their careers as Andronov. Keep in mind that they are attracting even more talent than before from Sweden and Finland in the KHL. We may get more out of him than we are giving him credit for this year.

I don't think Eronen is getting enough attention either as a skilled player. He was the leading scoring defenseman with 9 goals and 18 assist in a pro league that featured a veteran defense. This is a significant jump from the previous year.

Meh, HF should just keep it at a top 10. 11 thru 20 are " Suspects " more often then not, but that's my opinion.

stlweir 08-31-2012 02:04 PM

I think it says a lot for the depth of the organization when Grachev is rated where he is and he has had several NHL call ups. A player like Peluso isn't even rated and yet if Reaves were to be injured he would be the call up. The Blues have a number of players who will determine if they are prospects or suspects with ther play next season. With only seeing a bit of Walters play, the guy is a hard nosed competitor. Sometimes desire taks one farther than skill. Just sayin.

It's not every draft you end up with a potential 2nd line guy in the 7th round

it's really seems to be defensive defensemen (other than maybe Parayko) and potential power-forwards like Veilleux, Jaskin, and MacEachern at this point

MattyMo35 09-02-2012 01:47 PM

I would say add Jay Barriball. He's small, but everything I've read about him talks about his work ethic and great speed. Sounds a bit like Chris Porter. Could eventually be something good.

Add Lundstrom, karpowich, parayko or walters next
