Russian Prospect Line (1994 to 1990)

I take my time to do a little view of what the Team russia of each year will look at forward position. You can comment or tell me your opinion (it would be nice because it take a lot of my night time):

1994:

Slepyshev - Grigorenko - Kamaev
Zharkov - Yakimov - Filippov
Delnov - Osnovin - Barabanov
Krutikov - Khatsey - Timirev

1993:

Kosov - Khokhlachev - Yakupov
Shalunov - Prokhorkin - Kucherov
Shmelev - Kadeikin - Zlobin
Sigarev - Tkachev - Kapustin

1992:

Galiev - Namestnikov - Kuznetsov
Barbashev - Telegin - Gusev
Kabanov - Apalkov - Potekhin
Kartaev - Kulikov - Galimov

1991:

Kitsyn - Burmistrov - Tarasenko
Panarin - Sobchenko (RIP)- Avtsin
Dvurechensky- Voronin - Kalinin
Burdasov - Golubev - Bocharov

1990: (Tough one)

Filatov - Loktionov - Petrov
Grachev - Khokhryakov - Kugryshev
Belousov - Plotnikov - Timkin
Nikontsev - Kulemin - Lugin

So that's it !! I try the best I can ....

I would add Yakimov to the 1994 group. I don't think Kabanov belongs in 1992, but I'm not sure who would take his place, maybe even Lyubimov would look better there.

No doubt that the 1991 Group is the best one (not just because of age). 1990 is probably the weakest, although Filatov and Grachev were good at the time. Also, I think Trunev is better than some on the 1990.

Ah yes, I missed Yakimov- sorry. Not that many players come to mind right away, I have some depth charts on my other computer, but I can't remember all of them now.

Damir Zhafiarov -94, is playing with KHL team in preseason and is doing good. I think he's another one to watch.

I think you have done an excellent job of capturing the best of those years. i agree with the few edits that Fulcrum has made, but for the most part, you've got it all here.

I would rank the birth years in the following manner:

1. 1991
2. 1993
3. 1992
4. 1994
5. 1990

Obviously, many of these years are so close in quality to the others that it is just a matter of making a guess.

I agree with Fulcrum that Trunev belongs in the 1990 group. In the 1994 group, I thought Kuptsov played really well in the U18 World Championships in April.

vorky 08-31-2012 12:03 PM

I think Yaroslav Alshevsky will have good (maybe great) season 12/13. He was 2nd in pts in last VHL regular season. This summer scored many goals/assists in pre-games of Neftekhimik.

Avangard sent G Shilin (91) and D Dmitry Kozlov (90) to VHL club - Kurgan.

I was not sure with Trunev if I overrated him because I like him a lot ! Thanks for the info !! It's after these 12 player by years that I have some difficulties to rank them ...

Are you able to class some of the others ? Like top 5 by years that I mentionned after ?

Yes, I agree Alshevsky is slightly underrated.

Good ranking too:
1. 1991
2. 1993
3. 1992

4. 1994
5. 1990

The highlighted are very close, since Kuznetsov is an amazing stand-out for 92, unfortunately no one is really close to his level on that team.

What about 1995 talents:
Pavel Buchnevich
Sergei Tolchinksy
Valerii Nichushkin
Ivan Barbashev
Nikolai Goldobin

Zine 08-31-2012 03:22 PM

I'd do this. I switched LW/RW when needed, because most players can play both sides.

Zine, If you had to do a Top 7-8 players outside of the 12 player each year, who would you choose ?

I thought Shilin played poorly in the World Junior Cup.

Shestopalov - Pedan

Makarov
Perevozchikov

Ozhiganov - Antipov
Zheldakov - Isangulov
Kudinov - Gurkin

Kostenko
Saprykin

1991
Orlov - Pivtsakin
Sergeev - Zaitsev
Urychev - Berezin
Berdyukov - Ignatovich

Bobkov
Shikin

1990

Chudinov - Kiselevich
Vishnevsky - Konev
Mamkin - Kostromitin

Pechursky
Alistratov

Felix Perreault 09-01-2012 11:04 PM

I think Konev is a '89 ... And not sure but in 1992 you say Antipov ?? You think at Antipin or it is just me who don't know who is Antipov ??

And thanks for this !! I dont know much about defenseman so it's good for me !!

Yes I meant Antipin for 1992...I don't think he has high level potential though.
And replace Konev with, hmm.. maybe Golovkov or Klementiev?:dunno:

It's easy to see that Russia produced a lot more forward than defense .... A mix with the Sweden defense would be awesome ...

Felix Perreault 10-26-2012 03:17 PM

My biggest omission was Zhafyarov for the 1994 !!

For the rest, I think is still the same ...

malkinfan 10-26-2012 04:59 PM

Wonder why Tryamkin didn't garnish any attention for the WJC team? Admittedly I havent seen him play, but I cant imagine he could be any worse than Vasilevski and at 6'6" 220lbs. thats impressive, wow.

late 94 Pedan (brother to Andrei) recently transferred to USHL and committed to NCAA for next season. IMO big step for him, was wondering why he didnt follow his brother to the OHL, now the move makes sense.
